"Write a poem *after me* / before I‘m gone, and please do not include *rest in peace*; / only those who are forgotten go undisturbed, only things / kept in the dark know the true weight of light."

Alison Rollins is a librarian and her poet reflects her profession, her love of language, and deep understanding of history and culture. But it is not simply smart & full of wordplay. It is impassioned on the subjects of race, history, the uses of language, and the need for reading. I don't think it's too early to say one of my favorite books of 2019.
[I received an advanced e-copy of this book through Edelweiss. To be released April 23, 2019.]
