This is just one selection in the series of Noir books - city-based short stories by up and coming authors, curated by well established authors. In this age of publishing houses being gobbled up by the giants, a salute to Akashic Books, an independent publishing house supporting authors. Their tagline “reverse-gentrification of the literary world“ says it all.

I really enjoy the Noir series of books. As a Wisconsinite, I really enjoyed the Milwaukee edition. A couple of my favorite local authors have short stories in here - Larry Watson and Nick Petrie- and both were much different from their usual books. It‘s fun when authors surprise us with something new. And now I have a few new authors to check out.
