I like how this story emphasizes perseverance and hard work. These are good topics to discuss with students and show what we can accomplish when we push forward through hardships.
This biography is about Michael Jordan, the legendary basketball star, and is written by his mother and sister. The story discusses the hardships Michael faced during his early basketball career and how he almost quit the game altogether. But, with some determination and hard work he proves to be great.
This is a great biography written by Micheal Jordan's mom. She tells the story of when Micheal was ready to give up playing basketball. It tells the story with actual quotes of what was said.
I would add this book to my classroom library to spark imagination in children who may like basketball. This could help they enjoy reading.
“He was disappointed, and she could tell. “You guys lost again, huh?““.
This book is a NY Times Best-Seller! This biographical (B) PB, “Salt in His Shoes”, written by Deloris & Roslyn Jordan, illustrated by Kadir Nelson, is an awesome read especially for students who love sports. This is about Michael Jordan as a child who was in fear at the time that he wouldn‘t become a basketball player because of his height. His mother told him “salt in his shoes” would help him grow. An excellent read for school and home.
