This a biography about the musical legend Carlos Santana. It discusses racism, learning a second language, and his journey to discovering which instrument was right for him. I know him from the song “Maria Maria“. He plays the guitar so beautifully. I enjoyed learning about him. I would use this book as a read aloud with a Spanish speaking student doing those parts justice. A great pick for Hispanic Heritage Month. #ucflae3414sp20

ShardaeP ESOL: Provide contextual support through audio, visual, models, demonstrations, body language, and facial expressions (can let the students hear some of his songs, how amazingly he plays the guitar)
UDL: 3.1 Activate or supply background knowledge (give a mini introduction before reading the book and playing Carlos Santana's songs)
