This sequel to JOUST picks up almost immediately after the first book‘s conclusion. The former serf, Vetch, is returning to his homeland of Alta and embraces his birth name of Kiron here. Almost immediately his dragon knowledge revitalizes the Altan jousters and raising a new clutch of dragons from eggs. There is more magic and a dash of romance here. Plus the politics all give a lot of set-up for the next book. I liked the reminders of Valdemar!
