Young Eddie Rivera pays little attention the night Mama brings home an another boyfriend. But this one is different. Frank Porter is a physical abuser-a drunken squatter who's elbowed his way into Eddie's future indefinitely. Eddie eventually outgrows Frank's abuse but its left him with emotional scars and a steady hum for revenge. Midway through Eddie's high school senior year a game changer appears in the form of Connie Lee Morrison. Connie's a hot and spicy transfer from Florida with a hidden history and a plan to hitchhike out of her own bad situation. It's the perfect opportunity for Eddie and he's down with the idea before Connie can finish suggesting it. But the open road is dangerous and forces the two teens to go from innocent runaways to reluctant criminals, surviving as survivors do best.
