I started a summer job on my campus where I‘m allowed to read when I‘m not busy!

This book is good for what it is. An entertaining read. A story about 2 women who were friends as children and reconnect. The main character, Rose, is smart, obsessive, toxic, overly self-conscious, & self-absorbed—so, quite annoying. The author describes her as “willing to break boundaries” which I suppose is true. It‘s not a great book, but it kept me entertained!

This is a difficult book to review, because I am not sure what I actually read. My initial thought is that it gave me the Single White Female vibe, which is not my favorite movie.

Thank you NetGalley and Ballentine for an Advanced Reader‘s Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Honestly, I kinda wish that I had bailed on this one... a story of a toxic friendship initially appealed, but though under 300 pages, this book dragged and dragged... Most of the book is consumed with Rose‘s own negative thoughts in the past and present, and neither she nor her childhood best friend ever really grow or develop. The cyclical plot feels pointless and I wish that I could have felt more of a connection to either character... oh well!
