We have a small group of high school students who have recently discovered poetry and its been really fun to watch how excited they are about it! These are some books that were recommended or requested for the library... I've never been a huge poetry reader but I think much of that is because of how it was taught when I was in school.
Fortunately, the English teachers I work with are fabulous, right @LittleMouse5708 ?!

If you don't like poetry Rudy Francisco will change your mind. I promise! If you love poetry, you have to read these! Poetry that makes you want live with fire in your belly and kindness in your heart.

This a solid follow-up to Rudy‘s debut “Helium”, and it certainly packs a punch. This collection covered topics such as depression, racism, gun violence, police brutality, fatherhood, black culture, family, divorce, and love. I wish some of the poems and topics were expanded more, and the censure aspect was an interesting addition. I look forward to what Rudy Francisco publishes next!

If you like spoken word poetry, then you‘ll enjoy this. A lot of short poems that I wish were longer, but on a whole I enjoyed it.
