It's been awhile since I devoured a book in a day, but I could not put this down! Perfect combination of sweet, fluffy romance with great historical details that made it really compelling

I finished this a few days ago and just realized I never posted a review. It was so silly and fun, and went in a couple directions I wasn't expecting. I suspect there were references and jokes that went over my head as I'm not a major Star Trek fan, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I'll get it in the mail in the next couple days! #lmpbc @cseydel @bethM @peanutnine
Honestly, this was one of the better Kindle First books I've read. I liked that the characters were older, introverted and nerdy. It was a little slow to start but ended up being a sweet romance.
I loved the first half of the book, got way too emotionally attached to the dog, and overall really liked this book. I felt that a few parts in the middle dragged, and it could have been edited down a bit.
I foresee a good portion of my summer spent in this chair, reading good books and watching the chickens wander the yard... such a peaceful way to spend the day!
The tedium of Regents week is made slightly more bearable by some time with Stephen King…
100% purchased this for the beautiful cover art… fortunately the story within was just a magic and beautiful as the cover!
Finished my grades, so I‘m rewarding myself with a little reading time at my desk… this has had me chuckling already in the first few pages! #lmpbc @CSeydel @BethM @peanutnine
I think this is a little too epic for my current mood… putting it on pause for now, and maybe revisiting in a few weeks
My 7 year old has discovered Dog Man and is *obsessed* - all he wants to do is read! 🥰 I had to try it out and see for myself what all the fuss was about. It's very silly, with lots of gross humor. I can see why he likes it lol
I‘m not sure what I was expecting from this, but it was a pleasant surprise. The plot was pretty predictable, but I loved the magic and the writing. It was a very pretty fantasy, if that makes sense lol
Now I just need to get the sequel!
TJ Klune has such a knack for writing characters you just want to hug... I loved them all! I was a little apprehensive about this being a Pinocchio retelling as it's not my favorite story, but I ended up loving this!
Stumbled upon this on Amazon the other day and couldn‘t resist buying it. I don‘t remember anything about it except that I loved it as a kid… if nothing else, the kids will enjoy flipping through it
How cool to catch this tonight! Litsy is by far my favorite social media - I adore all you fellow book people! ❤️📚❤️📚
I really liked this spin on the typical Recency romance - this featured a member of Parliament who is mixed race and descended from an enslaved woman who escaped the Americas to England. He meets and falls in love with a Mexican heiress who is fleeing unrest in her country. It had all your typical romance tropes but also some interesting historical and cultural details as well. Overall a Fun read!
Mostly I‘m feeling sad right now that I have finally read all of the published Murderbot books and now I have to wait… Martha Wells (and Murderbot) is a gift!
This was SO much fun! I probably never would have picked it up if not for a recommendation from a coworker, but I‘m really glad I did.
I completely forgot that I had preordered this… what a happy surprise I had waiting in the mail for me today!
My mom has been telling me to read this for years and years. I really need to start listening to her, because she was right as usual... it was excellent! Now I need to watch the show!
Weekend reading plans… I‘ve got 3 VERY different books going right now! I‘d like to finish The Alienist this weekend as I have the audio and plan to spend the day gardening tomorrow
I really, really liked this! I‘ve been slowly making my way through a book on my kindle that has a similar premise, and struggling with it. The ideas are cool but the execution just isn‘t there. Weyward is exactly what I was hoping for when I started that other book… the 3 female main characters are well-written and have distinct voices. I liked their affinity with nature and subtle empowering magic.
Reading has really clicked with Lane in the last couple months and he is so excited about it! The kids usually have a half hour or so of quiet playtime while I read before bed on weeknights and then we read stories together. Lately, he has been choosing to join me and read together, which makes me soooooo happy! #raisingreaders
Not going to lie, the shift from YA in book 1 to smutty New Adult in book 2 is a little jarring…
I‘m mostly just glad to be done with the Helen trilogy, and hope that the series gains some momentum in the next few books… this trilogy was a slog for me! I am excited that it seems like Corrie and Constance will be getting some development but I really didn‘t enjoy the main storyline.
I loved everything about this book! This is exactly my favorite type of magical realism. Thank you for choosing it, @peanutnine and thank you for the lovely bookmark! I will get it in the mail in the next week so you won‘t have to wait so long for this one, @CSeydel #lmpbc @BethM
Weekend plans...
Super fun! I love Talia Hibbert‘s humor and the main characters had great banter.
This was exactly my kind of nonfiction… part memoir with lots of personal stories of the author‘s own experiences with her chickens, it also touched on many chicken related topics from the egg and meat industries, to wild chickens, the history of backyard chicken keeping, 4H & FFA etc., and had a vey conversational tone. Since I‘m currently obsessed with my new chickens, I was all in with this one!
I didn‘t love this, but it was enjoyable enough that I would like to continue the series. I think I like her Stalking Jack the Ripper series better.
Well Gary is certainly nothing like the unicorns 🦄 my 5 year old loves so very much! I can't say that I loved this, but it was definitely entertaining! I will get it in the mail ASAP #lmpbc @cseydel @peanutnine @bethm
My brother is visiting for the first time in years, so my reading time has been seriously limited in the last couple weeks... I am slowly making my way through this wild ride of a book - and sneaking in a few chapters during middle school state testing today. #lmpbc @bethm @cseydel @peanutnine
Just finished this up with my 6th grade book club. I felt like it dragged a little in the middle, but it was a cute story overall. My kids really liked it. #schoollibraries #teachersoflitsy #librariansoflitsy
There were some chapters that were very informative and useful, others less so. The author made a couple of political hot takes in the epilogue that rubbed me the wrong way, and felt totally unnecessary in a book about chicken care…
We have library chicks! I help with the gardening aspect of our school‘s agriculture program and somehow my duties have expanded to include the poultry as well… (it might have something to do with the fact that I went out and bought 6 chicks 🤣) Their brooder box is in the library and they will eventually move out to the chicken coop in our gardens. The kids are super excited for them to summer at our house! #schoollibraries #teachersoflitsy
I want to keep working on my cross stitch project, but can‘t decide on my next audiobook… which is probably a sign I should just go to bed 😂
I‘m feeling well enough today to at least sit up in bed and cross stitch while listening to my audiobooks, so that‘s definite progress! I guessed the ending pretty early on, but that in no way detracted from the book. The narrator did a fantastic job and Tana French‘s writing is superb!
I‘ve been sick and done nothing but lay in bed for the last 2 days. This was an excellent distraction from the yuckiness that is Covid, even if the story had me in tears in more than one occasion
While I didn‘t love this as much as I had hoped, it was cozy and fun - I will probably read the next book when it comes out in January.
While I did miss the Scholomance in this book, I still loved the characters and enjoyed the twists that came along with the story. A solid conclusion to the trilogy!
This was an amazing story, and Robin Miles did a stellar job narrating. I‘ll definitely be continuing the series!
This wasn‘t as good as the first book, but still a fast, entertaining read.
Our library is starting a major renovation of its childrens area on Monday, so we went to stock up on books today. The kids are happily analyzing their haul and my 7 year old is reading a picture book to his 5 year old sister… it‘s a good day! #raisingreaders
Me: “I‘m not taking home any books to read over break - I‘m just going to read books I own.”
Me, 20 minutes later: “Ooh new books! Which ones should I take home?!”
I have already started reading the tagged title…
#schoollibraries #librariansoflitsy #teachersoflitsy
I could not love this series, or Murderbot, more! Murderbot made some important decisions in this installment and it was nice to see it forming some relationships with other bots in addition to its human team.
We had a sub no-show today so I filled in for my friends high school English classes. They‘re reading Frankenstein and I was able to read this whole novella. Nnedi Okorafor never disappoints!
A low pick… the story started out strong and spooky but I lost interest right at the point when I should have been most invested. Without giving anything away… there were definitely some things that were done well, but I ended up a little disappointed with a few of the twists at the end.
When I said I wanted to read some lighthearted fantasy, this is exactly what I had in mind. It just made me happy! I‘m realizing that I read it so fast that I stopped leaving annotations about halfway through so I‘m going to go back through it tonight and get it in the mail on Monday. I hope you all like it as much as I did! #lmpbc @peanutnine @CSeydel @BethM
