I‘m halfway through this little book - it‘s a really cute adventurous story about two orphans who end up in the land of Snerg and I‘m excited to read on 🥰

thegirlwiththelibrarybag Well, this looks delightful! Does it back up its claim of inspiring the hobbit? (edited) 2y

ju.ca.no @thegirlwiththelibrarybag this is a new version of the book, but the Original is from the 1930ies by Wyke-Smith and as far as I‘ve read online, Tolkien himself said that he was inspired by them! I found an Article in the Washington Post about it: https://www.washingtonpost.com/entertainment/books/before-tolkien-created-hobbit... 2y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @ju.ca.no, thank you! Great article, I‘ve reserved a copy from the library 😊 want to see those illustrations for myself 2y
ju.ca.no @thegirlwiththelibrarybag I‘m also now curious about the original one to see how much was altered! 2y

ju.ca.no @thegirlwiththelibrarybag oh my, that doesn‘t sound too nice. Guess I need to get myself a copy to judge it myself! I enjoyed this version, and I feel like they sufficiently stated that it is a retellling. She explains at the end of the book that some characters are added and such 🤷🏽♀️ 2y
