The kings woodsman, a rebellious girl, a young priest, a roguish adventurer, and a young man made suddenly into a knightall face malevolent forces that shake the foundations of the kingdom, even as the Briar King, legendary harbinger of death, awakens from his slumber. Pickpick

This is definitely a low pick because at the start I didn't really care for any of the characters or their struggles. BUT a little after the halfway point I was more invested and while I won't immediately pick up the next one I am intrigued to see how it plays out.

Rolo and I are taking advantage of the good weather to see how big a chunk of this book we can finish.

I‘m five chapters deep in this and feeling like the prelude was the most interesting bit so far. I‘ve yet to connect with any of the main narrative pov characters. Rolo thinks I should just stick with it and hope something clicks soon.

Rare Simon as reading buddy sighting. I‘m hoping he gives me the motivation to get a big chunk of the tagged read tonight.

HAPPY #BOOKSPIN DAY TO ALL WHO CELEBRATE!

I'm excited about my picks for the month as I've been meaning to get to them forever. Leaning into my chunkster curse seems to have worked because these are both on the more mild side of the page count monsters on my list. (I think both of these together are the same amount of pages as number one on the list lol.)

#BookSpin draw day is almost upon us so here is my list for September. New to the list this month is the tagged as well as Red Mars. I'm still slowly trying to catch up with my backlog but I'm still so excited about the next draw!

Zoes_Human You have SO many great books on that list! 8mo

HAPPY #BOOKSPIN DAY TO ALL WHO CELEBRATE!
I am so hype to find out what I'm reading for this month. Both books are not quite 600 pages so at least no megachonks. It's also nice that one is fantasy while the other is sci fi to mix it up a bit.

There's nothing like waking up on a lazy Christmas morning and finishing an awesome book while sitting in my pj's and enjoying delicious gingerbread coffee. If you are a fantasy lover you MUST pick up this book. I've already picked up book 2 in this series 😂SO. GOOD. 👍🏻⚔️
