Good!!
This is an atmospheric, somewhat somber tale that features a woman who leaves a bad marriage and returns to her hometown with her two children. Her family has always been rumored to be witches, and her mother has addiction issues. It is a supernatural mystery with a touch of romance, but at heart is about family dynamics and relationships. I enjoyed it, but did find it a bit confusing at times. Thanks to Edelweiss+ for the digital ARC. 3.5/5 stars
This strong debut novel blends magic & family secrets against an Appalachian backdrop. Opaline, or Lee as she became in the years outside of her hometown, promised never to return but a pending divorce leaves her nowhere else to go. Along with her two children, she returns, once again surrounded by witchy rumors & signs that the mountains‘ magic runs deeper & darker than healing & love charms. The plot keeps twisting as more secrets come to light.
