Talking Zen
Talking Zen: Reflections on Mind, Myth, and the Magic of Life | Alan Watts
1 post | 1 read | 2 to read
Insightful and entertaining essays spanning 40 years of lectures by Alan Watts on Zen, Taoism, psychedelics, and comparative philosophy. Alan Watts's essays and talks range widely through psychology, art, religion, and politics, but always come home to the Zen core. For those familiar with Alan Watts’s style of presentation, the wonderful, memorable, and prophetic style of his voice is captured in this volume. Talking Zen puts on display Watts’s ability to explore the very subtle philosophies, those common across traditions and those unique to Zen, in ordinary and accessible language. These lectures paved the way for the rise of Zen in the West.

Pickpick

No one talks Zen better than Alan Watts. I can‘t blame his son for cashing in on his father‘s legacy by publishing old audio lectures in book form. I kept this pocket gem in my work bag for the better part of last year. It kept me grounded and spiritually in a better place than I would have been otherwise.

catiewithac @JamieArc I just ordered it yesterday because I‘m barely coping. Also, I should mail your birthday gift this week! 🥳 21h
JamieArc @catiewithac I had ordered it for you to send with your birthday package but it *just*came in. That‘s okay though - it‘s one I‘m interested in as well. I‘ve been reading feminist rage books to prepare. I hope you have some good things planned tomorrow to distract you or help you cope. Hugs to you, friend 🤗💙 20h
