Pickpick

3.5 ⭐️ soft pick

I found Lost in Austin an interesting book. Hannaford took a trip across America in 1999 and ended up falling in love with Austin. He takes us on a journey thru Austin, beginning in the 1970s to 2023.

He shows how fast the growth of a city wrecks havoc on the city. In the'70s to about 2003 Austin was a city for the eccentric and artistic. Tech moved in, and Austin's infrastructure became stressed. ⬇️

MonicaLoves2Read ⬆️ Austin could be any city in America that gives companies big tax breaks without fixing infrastructure or remembering the people who first made the city great.
Interesting read I think most people would enjoy reading it.

"Honestly, the Texas capital barely registered as a possible place to stop, even for a night, when my friend Luke and I embarked on a mammoth three-month road trip across America. "
