This was a beautiful but challenging read. As a slasher that carefully and artfully explores everything from gentrification to racism and abuse, this is a truly unique take on the Final Girl that will stick with me for a very long time. Full review on my blog 👇🏽

I like this exchange. It's so simple, but touches on something so big. This idea of the femme fatale, or how female beauty is itself dangerous. An idea that has been used as a way to repress and oppress women since... always! Her response, so simple and nonchalant, but so perfect. Superpowers aside, this feels like a bigger statement Schwab is making.
📚💕
Low book count for February (for me), but at least I enjoyed them all! Tagged was extremely challenging, but worth it in the end 🖤
I have 2hrs left of the tagged audiobook, and after a slow reading month, I'm more excited than usual to be able to finish it on bonus February reading day 😅🎉
Ok, I know the nice weather isn't going to stick around, but I really appreciate this little spring tease 📚☀️
Thought I'd throw out a little bookish fun this morning ☺️ Here's mine 👇🏽
Books are the most important thing.
I feel pretty good about that 🤗 #ReadingLife
Feel free to tag a current read too!
It's been a long time since I've been this into a book that isn't strictly a horror/thriller 😍🤗
VICTOR readjusted the shovels on his shoulder and stepped gingerly over an old, half-sunken grave.
#FirstLineFridays I can't believe it's taken me this long to start this one. I'm immediately hooked.
Reading location is essential to any book experience. #ReadingLife
Sunday afternoon me-time, while my husband gets in some daddy-son time downstairs 😌
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Despite guessing some of the mystery, I really enjoyed this ride. There was a lot going on, but it didn't feel convoluted, and I liked the main character. She was engaging and so was the story.
Here's a book with a premise I'm really excited about, by an author whose stuff I've not enjoyed in the past. Very curious to see how this one will go for me 🤔
A little bookish humour, courtesy of The New Yorker. Which stage are you at??
My physical shelves are only at the horizontal squeeze stage. My kindle is a whole other story, though LOL If it was physical, it'd be at I'm Fine 🤣
Tagged book is one I've had on my tbr for so long, I don't recall the premise 😅
On the battered paper map that‘s carried the two of them across they‘re not sure how many of the American states now, this is Proofrock, Idaho, and the dark body of water before them is Indian Lake, and it kind of goes forever out into the night.
#FirstLineFridays A mouthful of a first line, and they don't get any shorter after that 😅 A challenging read, but worth it.
There is a wilderness in little girls.
#FirstLineFridays I have been on a thriller kick for way too long, but I can't seem to stop. They're addictive, and this one is no exception!
⭐️⭐️⭐️
This one had a great cold opening that hooked me right away, and I couldn't put it down for the last 15%... but everything in between really dragged for me. I almost bailed many times, but was just a little too curious to see if my theory about the killer's identity was right. I was close! Satisfying climax, but annoying characters and a slightly triggering pandemic backdrop made it difficult for me to get through.
What a great reading month! I enjoyed all except, The Last Housewife, which really wasn't for me.
The Last Girls Standing & The Last Mrs. Parrish were my faves. Also, just now realizing that half the books I read this month were titled "The Last ____" ?
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A genre-bending gem that is more action-thriller than horror, but definitely made for Slasher fans with plenty of nods and classic nostalgia. Also plenty of twists and only a little predictable.

That moment when you realize there's over 150 pages left of a book you're barely enjoying.
Amber Patterson was tired of being invisible.

Hoping to finish this one over the weekend. What a wild ride! I love the first line, but then there's a huge shift halfway through that hooked me all over again!

Fiction lovers know you don't need to go to the non-fiction aisle to learn new things. So I thought this would be a fun way to spread knowledge through novel love 😍
Here's mine: Catalina Island (CA) is mostly car-free. At the time of this book, there was a 14-year waitlist to be approved for a full-sized vehicle! (I Googled it. It's now 25 years)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A fun thriller with two intertwining storylines across two timeliness (and two murders). In the 70s, we have a group of rock stars and artists in the villa, and in the present, we have two writers seeking inspiration in the villa. While I found the present storyline a little unsatisfying overall, the past storyline carried the book for me, with interesting characters, good suspense, and a great surprise ending!
This one doesn't have great reviews, but I am a couple chapters in, and very intrigued.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
I loved this book. I always forget how engaging a YA Thriller can be, but this one really hit all the marks for me! A realistic but unreliable narrator, a suspenseful mystery, and a Final Girl theme. Not to mention a roller coaster ride of a conclusion.

De-decorating soon, but for now, enjoying the ambience.
Two chapters in, and I can already tell this will be un-put-down-able.
I thoroughly enjoyed this one! I hope we're going to start seeing more sci-fi slashers come out soon, but in the meantime, there are some good supernatural ones out there. If you're looking for some, here's a list I just posted on my blog 🤗📚🖤

Every year, I set the same modest (for me) reading challenge: 52 books. I usually double it, but I never increase my goal, because for me, it's not about competition. It's just about reminding myself to pick up a book at least once a day, and complete at least one every week, because I love reading and I want to make time for it.
Happy New Reading Year, Littens 🎉
Looking for some good fairytales or retellings for winter reading... something about snow and magic always feels right to me. Especially dark ones, but I like em all! Any faves out there? Tagged will probably be my January pick.
When it's 7pm on a Saturday, and you just got baby down, but can't quite muster the energy to face the mess downstairs, so u take a beer and a book up to bed 😅
I give this one ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Fun premise, good twists, but a few head-scratching plot holes I can't look past

Last #FirstLineFridays of the year 🤯 I'll be taking this book into 2024 with me 🤗🥳
It had taken sixteen sutures to close the wound on the underside of Sloan's forearm.
Goodreads reading challenge is wrapping up! I read 70 books so far this year, quite low for me, but it was also my first year as a mom, so I think that's valid 😅 What was everyone's least shelved book?? Mine isn't in the Litsy catalogue, but I LOVED it
Ok, I'm admitting here and now that I'm reading too many books. It's December 24th, and at this rate, I won't finish any of my 4 currents reads by the 31st 😳📚
Ok, small gripe session: this is such a pet peeve of mine, ppl saying "it's me," on the phone or at a door. It's such a useless phrase. If you don't feel the need to state your name, then you're assuming I know your voice, so why bother with "it's me," at all??? Argh. Idk why this bugs me so much, but it does ?
Hey Littens! Exciting news! I've launched a book blog! It focuses on books about Final Girls (horror/thriller genre) and includes reviews, movie pairings, and book lists. 2 reviews are up so far: Final Girls (Riley Sager) and There's No Way I'd Die First (Lisa Springer). I've also posted a list of 10 Fear Street books I think would make great slasher flicks 🔪🖤
I hope you'll check it out 😊 slashingpages.com

A Christmastime suspense likened to Knives Out? I'm here for it!
FYI to the romance junkies! I don't read much romance, but this sounds cool, so I'll probably peruse some titles!

Nostalgia won tonight. I just bought the ebook.
I don't really know what it means, but COOL lol
My longest book was Run Time at 520 pages. I usually avoid big books, but I'm glad I read that one. I loved it!
Hallmark movie meets the slasher genre... Well, I simply can't resist.
Finally giving this one a go, and so glad I chose audio because until I heard the opening credits, I had no idea it was pronounced Nosferatu 🤯
Should be a good listen for a snowy December.
So many books. So little time... before my nap
