I enjoyed the storyline, and I appreciated Father O'Ryan's character. Although, sometimes I wish I was more 'in' the story than listening to O'Ryan dictate it to me. That being said, the plot was strong enough to keep me hooked. Overall, I liked it.

This book had a great story, but the writing kept throwing me off. I wondered why and I figured it out this evening-it lacked soul. In other words, it was stiff. One priest lives with a pedophile/corrupt priest. When a boy is killed, the town turns on the protagonist because they don't like him. While I am not panning it, it was more miss than hit. I think maybe because I am a priest-type that I knew he wouldn't do certain things. It was just ok.
What do you do with a book where the writing is pretty bad, but the story is really well done? I love the idea of an unpopular priest who knows the other priest molested and possibly killed a boy, but everyone hates him so no one listens, but the writing is distracting.
