I really like the premise and there‘s a lot of action but overall, I‘m not impressed. All their rescues were just way too easy, they were unreasonably trusting of certain characters, and there were too many coincidences. Also, if it was that easy to overwhelm packs, then why wouldn‘t Hunters have done it before already? It just didn‘t make sense to me.

About to start this gem finally. // I have a question though about NetGalley. Does anybody know an easy way to be able to move the ARCs that don't directly download onto kindle to my kindle? I heard there was a way to change the document and then download it onto the kindle anyways. Can anybody help me with that? I'm really struggling with reading them on my phone. #netgalley #arc #help

BookwormM I always send them to my kindle email address you have to add Netgalley as an approved email address first. 2w
IvoryLunatic @bookwormm Even the ones that don‘t have a kindle download button? The protected PDFs? (edited) 2w
EadieB @IvoryLunatic I use Amazon and go under Digital Content. Search for your book and then you can choose to send it to your iPad, iPhone, or computer or all 3. 1w
IvoryLunatic @EadieB But isn‘t that just for the ones in kindle format? I‘m asking about the ones that are not in kindle format. Those don‘t get sent to my amazon account. 1w

Definitely found some great gems at goodwill yesterday. I never walk out of there with less than 20 books. I did buy some this time that I already had but they were ones that I either really love (Cloud Atlas) or ones that I hear a lot of good things about but just haven‘t read yet (The Alice Network). I keep them to trade in at Little Free Libraries.

IvoryLunatic I‘ve been super disappointed with our LFLs here so far. Either they‘re not in use at all anymore or they have super old books in them. There‘s nothing wrong with old books but it just doesn‘t seem like people trade in books that are likely to be picked up by someone. 2w

Enjoying some time outside with my best friend on a rainy day. Unexpectedly have to work night shift for the rest of the week and since I can‘t sleep during the day, I‘ll be absolutely exhausted this weekend and feel like I‘m not even getting any real time off. // So I was really excited for this ARC because I like to learn more common sense ways to control guns (control, not ban!) but so far, I‘m not very happy with it. I‘m definitely learning ⬇️

IvoryLunatic Some things but the format is absolutely awful. I don‘t know if it‘s just because it didn‘t convert well but the spacing, the capitalizing, the illegible graphs and tables, etc. just make it impossible to learn everything it may have to teach. It also seems very unorganized and jump around a lot. It‘s just not cohesive. So far, I‘m pretty disappointed. This is not what we needed. Hopefully the final sale copy is much better than this. 2w

I love & have loved many dogs but there are only three that truly have a huge piece of my heart. One is by my side every day, another has been out of my life for years & I worry for her all the time, and this third one - he tore my heart in two today. It is difficult to put into adequate words but I love you & will miss you so much, Bobber. I hate that we could not open our home to you sooner. Our preparations for you to join us are now too late.

What are some super low cost, very quick breakfast ideas? I have to lose some weight to fit into my wedding dress. I have issues with my hip that keep me from working out much but I try to go on a walk every day at least once. It makes me feel better overall for the rest of the day & I do feel like it helps a little - better than sitting on my butt. But now I need some really quick breakfast ideas bc between fosters and walking in the morning ⬇️

IvoryLunatic I‘d rather not have to get up even earlier before work. I‘m already struggling with getting enough sleep sometimes and will get terrible headaches if I don‘t. Any help would be appreciated! 3w
IvoryLunatic I should probably also add that I‘m lactose intolerant sadly. 3w
Butterfinger Oatmeal maybe. I'm not very creative, but I know it's filling and cheap. 3w
See All 13 Comments
julesG Over-night-oats might be an idea. It's basically oatmeal, but you prepare it the night before and leave it in the fridge (or on the worktop, if you're not making it with milk) until the next morning. You can heat it in the microwave for about a minute, but it's also good cold. 3w
julesG What I found very helpful in losing weight was intermittent fasting. I can't do the really good 16/8 ratio (16 hours of fasting) but was told that 14/10 or even 12/12 is also very good. 14/10 works best for me. Also, getting my carbs in with the first meal of the day, having a mixed (carbs + protein) lunch, and sticking to no carbs for dinner. Plus, 5 hours of fasting between meals. 3w
julesG I can't exercise a lot due to problems with Multiple Sclerosis. So, relatively strict eating habits are important. No snacking, especially when preparing food for the kids is tough, but it was/is what is showing the best results for me. 3w
IvoryLunatic @julesG I try to take as long as possible before eating again but often times my sugar will drop and I‘ll get really nauseous. Especially in the mornings. I have to eat a good meal at night and soon after I wake up or I get really sick. What is the difference between just normal oatmeal and overnight oats? 3w
julesG Gah, the sugar levels. I've been struggling with that, too. But it has gotten better. I am assuming you know how to make regular oatmeal. With overnight oats you use oats, or oatmeal, and steep them over night in a container. No cooking required. The oats soak up the liquid during those hours. The longer you steep them, the creamier it'll be. Also, I always add a table spoon of chia seeds or ground linseed to the overnight oats. 3w
IvoryLunatic @julesG Do I need to get just the normal oatmeal in a big container or do the little packs for normal oatmeal work too? I‘ll probably cut up some fresh fruit anyways in the morning but that way i know if I can use up what I already have or just need to go ahead and buy the container of just oatmeal. 3w
julesG I you can use any oats or oatmeal you might have around the home. 3w
ImperfectCJ Chia pudding made with coconut milk is good. No cooking, just soak overnight and it's ready in the morning. My daughter and I make up a double batch of almond flour muffins (grain-free, dairy-free, with squash and banana) and I grab one of those from the fridge and a piece of fruit and I'm good for the morning. Weight training helps me manage weight better than cardio. 3w
Angeles For me the thing that works is just getting 1/2 of my regular breakfast favorites. If i go for low cal/ special food i fall off the wagon very fast 3w
IvoryLunatic @Angeles that‘s my trouble too. I‘ll quit really quickly if I just can‘t have something at all so a lot of stuff I‘ve just been scaling back. I‘m bad about overeating so I make sure to stop a lot sooner now. 3w

While I find this book interesting & educational, I still have mixed feelings. It seems so pieced together. It doesn‘t flow very well, which regularly pulls me out of the story & doesn‘t keep me as focused on it as I‘d like. // New goal: do a little walking outside of work daily. We have a tiny neighborhood but I did 2 rounds this morning since my neighbors skipped today. I don‘t like going to the bigger neighborhood on my own in the dark.

Apparently the week wasn‘t rough enough already so this little heartbreaker of a foster girl decided to make it even worse by jumping our fence. Lots of panicking, searching in the dark and rain, and a terrifying game of tag across a busy road (several times) later, and I thankfully got a hold of her. She looked at me like “what are you even worried about?” when I put the leash on her. #fosterfailure

wanderinglynn Sorry to hear you‘ve had a rough week. Hope things get better. 💜 But your foster dog is adorable! (edited) 3w

Hey fellow NetGalley reviewers! I have a question. How hard do you guys try to stick to publication dates or do you care at all? So far it has always been a goal to finish & review a book on or before the publication date but this week & the next couple of weeks, I will be behind on several reviews. I know some people have reviewed books even years later but how do you handle this? / Currently reading the tagged book which came out yesterday :|

Librarybelle I still write up the review and submit on NetGalley. Many of the books I read are past the pub date by the time I get to them. I figure the publishing house would still like to see the review, even if it is post pub date. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 2mo
Maude I try to keep up and do them the week of publication, but I do fall behind at times. I just started net galley recently and I didn't realize how many request would be approved so I requested too many at first. It took some catching up. 2mo
IvoryLunatic @Librarybelle I‘m definitely going to review them even if they‘re late. I just hate that work put me so far behind my usual reading schedule. @Maude I started in May and still haven‘t learned my lesson. I‘m up to 100 approved books already. Lol I have about 2/3 of them reviewed, and about half of the ones that are left are due next year so after I get through the next 10 books, my reading slows down a lot. 2mo
sharread I pay more attention to the archive date. When it's archived its gone and the publisher might email you to extend it. I do get the review in on or recently after publication. 1mo
IvoryLunatic @sharread I thought that‘s only for the docs but that you can still read the ebooks. 1mo

I have mixed feelings about this one right now. Historical fiction is usually my favorite genre but I don‘t know if it‘s the story itself that isn‘t holding my interest or that I‘m just not in the right mood right now. I do skip back and forth between this one and another #arc because I can‘t seem to focus on anything right now. #netgalley

IvoryLunatic @ReadingDownUnder that‘s a genre I‘ve been wanting to try. I‘m on the waitlist for a Louise Penny book at the library but that‘ll be a while before I get it. Do you have a recommendation for another good one to try? 2mo
ReadingDownUnder I love cozies! It‘s normally all I read for NetGalley. My favourite series is Library Lover series by Jenn McKinlay. Second fave is the Gray Whale Inn series by Karen MacInerney. What hobbies do you like? There is a series for every interest! 2mo

This book made me smile and cry, hope and despair. It was a giant roller coaster. I don‘t want to give the end away but I have so much respect for this author. And I‘m glad that her marriage did not fail through this struggle like I read about in some other memoirs. Thank you for putting your story down and sharing your struggle with us. #netgalley #arc #addiction

I really enjoyed this book and am glad I listened to it despite of some of the bad reviews I saw beforehand. To me it was so much more than an island witch waiting for guys to sleep with. I loved listening to her transformation and the ending was perfect for me. And I highly recommend the audiobook because the narrator blew me away! I must find out what else she has narrated bc I could listen to her every day of my life. #circe #audiobook #library

It‘s finally not too hot to read on the front porch. Trying to work two library books into my reading schedule without missing publishing dates for my #NetGalley #ARCs. Somehow they always all come available at the same time even though I try to choose books with different waitlist times.

Wow. I‘m not really into murder stories usually but this one really sucked me in. While I figured out one part on my own quickly, there was a turn later that really took me by surprise. I didn‘t expect that at all. While I still don‘t think this is the genre for me because it stirs my anxiety in such uncomfortable ways, I‘m still glad I stepped out of my comfort zone for this one. #netgalley #arc #whathappenedthatnight

What Happened That Night. I knew exactly what happened the night that got the ball rolling on this story right from the start. I struggle with parts of it because it really triggers some memories that put me in a panic but I decided to fight through it for this book until the end. There are some interesting turns that I didn‘t expect to come out of this so I‘m curious to see how it ends. #netgalley #arc

Finally got some washi tape & stickers to send out some #litsylove. I‘m sorry to everyone who hasn‘t heard back yet from me. It‘s been very busy and I haven‘t had the chance to buy these until now. Hopefully I still have the envelopes I‘ve been moving around with me for years from house to house. / So far I‘m really enjoying the tagged book. The writing is simple but effective & the story is moving along well. The futuristic tech is interesting.

I forgot my kindle at work so I gotta take some actual books with me today. No lie, I got slight anxiety about not having my kindle with me. Things have gotten missing at work before. I‘m really excited about reading the tagged book. It sounds awesome. #bookishfirst

Got this with my free kindle credits this morning. I‘m considering getting a bachelors in business administration (NC tuition is super cheap thanks to NC Promise at this school - otherwise I would get a masters).

At first, he was just pointing out the random cats in an unrelated video to Nymeria. Now he‘s literally just watching car videos with her. Lol. What a heartbreaking book this is, just like Beautiful Boy. I want it to end positively so much but don‘t have much hope. #netgalley #arc
