Between Two Fires | Christopher Buehlman

Pickpick

I picked this up on a whim based on a brief description TikTok of all places and I was not disappointed. Buehlmans tale of a disgraced knight, an alcoholic priest and a strange young girls trek across France as the Black Death decimates city and countryside alike manages to be both grim and captivating. A must read for fans of dark historical fantasy or religious horror.

The Road | Cormac McCarthy

Pickpick

Probably Cormac McCarthys most famous work. A story of a man and his son as they trek across a bleak and unforgiving vision of the post apocalypse. Often viewed as a brutal and overwhelmingly grim, I found The Road to actually have a more uplifting message of hope and unconditional love especially when compared to the rest of McCarthys catalogue.

KCofKaysville It was good but kind of a sad world. 3y

Just remember the things you put in your head are there forever, he said. You might want to think about that.
