Hoping this Dollar store deal has a happy ending. Been on a really depressing reading streak lately.

I originally rated it so-so. Then I couldn't get it out of my head. I decided that means it was actually amazing (very rarely do books stick for me) and I was being unfair because I didn't care for the ending. I keep wondering "What happens next"... So had to change the rating.

The 1st 2/3: why does everyone love this? The characters are so shallow and weak. I don't really care what happens to them. By the end: I like a couple of them. I love endings where they don't necessarily get what they hope for but end up happy with what they get.

A really fun story!! Written for young readers but I enjoyed the mystery and action. I read it to see if my son should read it. I think he'll love it and it will give us something to talk about as he works out the mysteries and action. I'll be getting the next book in the series.

Sorry it took so long but glad I finally got to it. There was a few places where it lagged but I kept going. I admit that I kept waiting for a happy ending even though I knew better.

Trying this out to see if it's appropriate for my son. Anyone have thoughts on that?
