Loved! The characters. The love and connection. The evolution and growth of some of the characters. The use of mythology in the plot. The presence of queer / gay love... real and deep and beautiful. A rare find. More like this please.

Powerful. Really enjoyed the characters. I recommend white folks read this book. The author provides a means to see a perspective that is not my lived experience - as I am a white person living in this world. A perspective that may be necessary for white folks to truly understand.

Very moving. The characters, the generations. Historical fiction - at times very painful to read about the characters' experiences - and yet, important to read and know and acknowledge. Racism, white supremacy, sexism, patriarchy, greed, and capitalism - brewing in this book, as people live and survive and do their best to thrive in the ways they are able to.
