I DEVOURED this book. What a page turner! This was one of those mysteries that I felt like the answer was right in front of me and I just couldn't quite put my finger on it. Crime fiction/thriller fans will not be disappointed. 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Steadily making progress on my reading challenge, hoping I can make it!

The Nickel Boys: A Novel | Colson Whitehead

What a beautiful, heartbreaking book. The true story that is the basis for The Nickel Boys is something I had never heard of, but will for sure do more reading on. This is based on a real "reform school" for boys in Jim Crow era Florida that was home to some of the most horrifying things you can imagine. This is the story of the boys who lived through it. Only Whitehead could write this story. Highly highly recommend. 4.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐?

If you guys are looking to get SCARED this Halloween, this is on sale for Kindle for $1.99 right now. This is, hands down, one of the scariest books I have ever read. A 5 star read for sure!

Do not read this book at night. Or if it's snowing. Or while eating. This was fast-paced, scary and VERY gory in spots - but not overly so, just enough to set the tone and leave you unsettled. Thanks to this book I will never ever spend time in a cabin in the winter 😂
A great read for this time of year! I already downloaded two more of her books for super cheap on kindle. 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I'm not sure how any review could do this book justice. A coming-of-age story about a boy in Alabama in the 60's, desperate to help solve the mystery that haunts his dad. This book has something for everyone - family, mystery, and a flare of supernatural. Absolutely loved it!

My heart is in PIECES. Goddammit I can't remember the last time I rooted so hard for characters in a book. King absolutely KILLED IT with the kids in this story. Think the Losers Club from IT combined with the powers of Charlie from Firestarter. I couldn't put it down. If anyone needs me I will be over here, in my feelings about this book.

One of the best parts of Peter May's books is the way he describes the landscape. All the ones I have read take place on the outer isles of Scotland - which sound both harsh and breathtaking at the same time. I loved this book. The whole time i read I felt like the twist was on the tip of my tongue but I just couldn't completely figure it out- which is exactly how I like my mystery/thrillers. Definitely check out Peter May ASAP! 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I love Greg Iles. His Penn Cage books, in particular the Natchez Burning trilogy, are some of my favorites. I was worried this standalone novel would be a letdown by comparison but I was so wrong. The twists and turns Iles is able to weave keep you engaged and unable to put this down. If you haven't checked out Greg Iles, what are you waiting for?! 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

A really solid thriller! Jack Carr is a former Navy SEAL. He had to submit this manuscript to the DOD for review and approval- all of the redacted parts are still in the book, just blacked out, which I thought was a cool touch. James Reece is a badass character and a guy you will definitely root for. Will definitely check out the next book in this series. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Slowly making progress on my reading challenge! Determined to hit 50 this year

Every time I read this book I am reminded why it is my favorite - not just in the series, but my favorite book, period. I know King is revered for his more well-known horror books but this is King at his finest. Such a beautiful, haunting story that shows how Roland came to be Roland. I could gush about this book forever.

I enjoyed this very much. The plot is disturbing but I didnt feel like it was excessively graphic like some other thrillers I have read. I enjoyed the way the story was told - you know the outcome from the first page but the telling of the events leading up to that will have you hooked. And a twist at the end that I didn't see coming! Already downloaded the next book, planning to read it immediately!
