83/100 Its been 10 years since the last Old Man's War novel, The End of All Things, but Scalzi drops the reader back into this universe as if it was yesterday. We're quickly brought up to speed on the tenuous relationship between the Colonial government, the alien Conclave, the Consu, and the Earth. While there is plenty of snarky humor in this book, I wouldn't label it as humorous, like Starter Villain or When The Moon Hits Your Eye, it's more ⬇️

RamsFan1963 action oriented. Scalzi writes interesting and diverse aliens, both the Consu and the Opin are unique in their alienness, but still human like in their needs. Sadly, I can see this as the end of the series, it kind of shuts the door on future stories, but if it is the end, then it's a rousing and satisfying conclusion. 5 🌟 read #Read2025 #SeriesLove2025 4h

Finally finished this one. It's my take the book to the apt book. Lol. A family goes to New York for a vacation, and two of them get kidnapped. Why and how to get them back. #ISoyBingoSept @TheAromaofBooks #Read2025 @DieAReader

Finished this one on the plane yesterday for #ThematicCozies September #Books This bookish cozy had been in my TBR for ages & I love the author‘s gardening & bird-related series, so it‘s no wonder I enjoyed this one. Set in Bath, the MC, Haley, curates a library foundation dedicated to the Golden Age of Mysteries even though her literary preferences & studies were not about mysteries. When the leader of a group of ⬇️

DebinHawaii … Agatha Christie fan fiction writers turns up dead in the library room, she‘s on the case to solve it. I liked Hayley (divorced mom with a college-age daughter) & found the mystery pretty good (it kept me guessing) & all the references to mysteries & other books are fun. I‘ll read the next book. Also, the foundation‘s tortie cat named Bunter is adorable.🐈💛 Thanks to my #AuthorAMonth reading of Dorthy L Sayers, I knew the name.😉 (edited) 2d

Lucy and Savvy are best pals-two peas in a pod. But after a local wedding one dark night, Savvy‘s been murdered. And Lucy is found bloody and wandering the street with a TBI, not sure what transpired…Great debut adult novel. Compelling and clever.

nanuska_153 This man is such a great actor, but he's too good. I used to not be able to see him as anything but a lovable funny old man; but then Dexter happened and now every time I see him I just see a terrorising psycho and he just creeps me out 3d

Theo explores the complexities of government‘s right to ‘eminent domain‘ by representing a family who have lived for generations in a country home with 100+ acres and are now refusing to sell. (“pave paradise and put up a parking lot”) Great story and characters!

marleed I read 3 TB books back to back and really enjoyed these middle grade stories. I had no family member involved in law as I grew up and wondered as I read if those books might have changed my career path had I read them oh say 40 years earlier🤣 3d

Mehso-so

An interesting concept, with some engaging characters, but the pace was unbearably slow at times, the author going of at slightly preachy-sounding tangents too often. And one of the least engaging characters was the main character herself.
