It's been a while since I read a book from this series. My husband got the 1st 10 books and was laughing so hard, so I thought I would read number 7 as it was the next one on the TBR. This series will make you laugh out loud, plus two bingo spots #ISpyBingoApril @TheAromaofBooks #SeriesLove25 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView #Read2025 @DieAReader

4.5⭐️

The Dead Will Tell is the 6th book in Linda Castillo's Kate Burkholder Series. It was tense pretty much from page one. I never lost interest in it. Castillo is continuing to develop the character of Kate. Kate has grown quite a lot since the first book.

Kate Burkholder investigates a murder that may have ties to a 35 year old murder. A person dies, and the police find notes saying, 'I know what you did.' The police try to get ⬇️

MonicaLoves2Read the friends to talk, but all they get told is it's a ghost. Can Kate find out the truth before more people die?

I think you could read this as a stand-alone, but you may not understand some of the things talked about from previous books. If you like murder mystery, this is a great series.

Pulled it out at the last minute & finished this one for #RiseUpReads Torn between So-So & Pick, I‘m going with a pick because while I grew up in Northern California & Oregon & was taught the history of the states, so much of it was white-washed & little was taught about women & the roles they played. This book isn‘t perfect—it slogs (I skimmed some chapters) & the focus is mostly on the white experience but there ⬇️

DebinHawaii … is some good information in here & I liked learning more about subjects & themes that intersect with historical fiction I‘ve read.

For #Pemberlittens #JaneAustenThenAndNow

1. Reread, I‘m not sure how many times as I read it at least every 2 years, often every year… maybe 30? Format: started with the purple beauty, read mostly on my Kindle & finished with the Classics Reimagined version this weekend. I don‘t think my viewpoint has changed too much except for more sympathy for Mary over the years.

2. Elizabeth of course! 💜 Darcy by the end.😉

3. Elizabeth ⬇️

DebinHawaii … going toe-to-toe with Lady Catherine. Such badassery!
4. So many favorite quotes but “and I could easily forgive HIS pride, if he had not mortified MINE.” Is just perfection
5. Ride in the rain & catch a cold & recover at Netherfield Park
6. Dinner with Caroline to see what she‘d wear. Plus I think the food would be better-I feel like Lady C would not have her food seasoned well! 🤷🏻‍♀️ ⬇️

DebinHawaii … 7. It‘s close, but Wickham is worse for me.
8. A girl‘s tea with Lizzy, Jane & Mrs. Gardiner. 🫖 No to Mr. & Mrs. Bennet & Mr. Collins.
9. I watched the 1995 series once this month & 2005 twice (it‘s shorter!). While I get the appeal of Matthew Macfadyen, Colin Firth is forever my Darcy.💜

Crinoline_Laphroaig I'm planning a daylong binge of 1995. #DateWithMrDarcy‼️😍 3d

I finished this one last night for #ChildrensClassicRead2025 & it‘s a soft pick for nostalgia for the author. I found it too long & disjointed with it being separate stories really rather than cohesive chapters. It could be because I waited for the end of the month & was hurrying a bit but I had a hard time keeping track of all of the family & other characters. It did have some charming moments though.

TheBookHippie It is not my favorite of hers but like you some of the passages I really enjoyed! 3d
LeahBergen It‘s not a favourite of mine either but … you‘re right. Any LMM is usually good for a hit of nostalgia, isn‘t it? 😊 3d

Finished this weekend for #BookedInTime & #FoodAndLit #Ireland This book is set in 1847 against the backdrop of the Irish famine where a ship of many souls (over 450 with steerage, First Class & crew) sets out from Ireland to New York trying to escape the Great Famine & survive. There are lots of secrets revealed & a murder that take place on the month-long voyage. This was tough to read due to the subject matter & many characters ⬇️

DebinHawaii …to keep track of as well as the sometimes convoluted writing & back & forth in time, but it‘s a good book & well worth the effort.

(I‘ll do a separate #FoodAndLit post with the Irish food I ate.)

My 3rd & final March #ThematicCozies pick #Hobby almost didn‘t happen because when I started the audiobook the narration seemed to have almost no inflection & that bugged me. Since it was 4:30 AM & I was on my way to the airport & wanted it for my commutes last week, I sped it up to 1.5 & that was better. I was able to get into the story of Katie Bonner who becomes the manager of Artisan‘s Alley when her business ⬇️

TheSpineView Well done! 3d
julieclair Glad you enjoyed it despite the narrator. I listen to a lot of audiobooks, too, and I have dnf‘d several because the narration was so awful. 1d
