This is a great book with historical elements as well as speculative fiction. It follows a boy who wants to become an astronaut but is afraid of the dark, but he overcomes this fear. I love the lesson of embraces one‘s dreams and persevering.

This book is very touching and I personally enjoyed it. I worry that children who might not have great relationships with their parents might not connect to it so much but I could also see it having the opposite effect with some students. Overall I thought the theme of unconditional love was great and well written.

While I remember reading this book a long time ago I had forgotten about it and I‘m glad that I revisited it. It is a beautiful story and it discusses a feeling that many children might deal with everyday. I think it gives the reader a sense of reassurance.

This is another book that is a classic and I have always enjoyed. The themes of being environmentally friendly is great for children to hear, and like most Seuss books, there are a lot of literary elements that children can learn from.

The pigeon books are always a hit with younger children as they are usually funny and goofy. Like many of them though, this book is very repetitive and doesn‘t have a lot of literary focus. It is good for a quick read sometimes but not great for teaching especially older students

I have always loved Eric Carle illustrations as I find they can turn a somewhat bland book into something much bigger. This book is great as it is very simple and can be read to younger children, but also teaches literary elements like rhyming. Great book.
