Still working on this one, but once again having trouble. It has lots of things I love - witches, vampires, mysterious books, old libraries... But for some reason I have a hard time really caring about the characters.

Same thing with my audiobook, The Curse Of The House On Cypress Lane. Lots of elements that I love, but it is just dragging on and on.

I haven't been on Goodreads much in the past year. It just doesn't quite do all the things I want it to do and I lost interest for a while. But I thought I would get back into it and set myself a reading challenge. I'm taking it easy on myself and counting audiobooks. Maybe that is cheating, but as a perpetually exhausted working mom, I need all the help I can get!

I've started this series several times, but lose interest somewhere along the way and give it up. But now that I'm watching the t.v. series, it feels like a good time to give it another try!

Mehso-so

I thought this would be right up my alley - a creepy old mental asylum with strange experiments and maybe a ghost or 2. My favorite type of dark, gothic chill. And to a small degree, it was that. The writing was good and some of the scenes were delightfully unsettling. But I was left feeling very dissatisfied. It wasn't a cohesive novel, but more like a series of short stories held together by the common threads of location and Nurse Winters.
