books about decluttering and organizing are my palette cleansers between other books im reading

Tamra I could manage a lot better with a regular cleaning service. 😜 4w
kim.guernsey @Tamra 😂 i won't lie, that's what we did in our house, and it's been worth every penny spent and minute saved! 3w

That feeling when all the library holds come in at the same time. Not like I have 10 other books in progress or anything. 🤦

I'm not expecting a literary masterpiece, but I'm on vacation and already finished a book on the plane, so I'm on a roll and in the market for easy reading and quick hits. Only 2 books left to reach my goal for this year! (34/36 if you wondered)

I've heard good things about this book so now that my library hold came through, I'm basically ignoring the rest of my books in progress. Excited to read this one!

Getting through the second half of this book has been an uphill battle. Nothing wrong with the story. I'm just feeling lazy and only want to read articles about decluttering the house and fashion on a budget. 😆

jmtrivera Kim, sometimes I think we're twins separated at birth. 2mo

How embarrassing! I found this in a decluttering session. We got this book as a wedding gift and I've never read it or even skimmed through it. We celebrate our 10 year anniversary in March so... 🤷🏻‍♀️🤪

I always have such high hopes of getting a lot of reading done on vacation but reality usually doesn't match up. We're home from our trip now and I didn't get through as much of this as I wanted, but it was still more than I realized! Hoping to finish in a week or so! Any good tips for fitting in more reading during trips??

Nute I‘ve tried to make reading happen on vacations and it never works out as planned. I think that accomplishment would be more successful if the vacation was specifically established as a “reading vacation” - one that is planned for reading only with no other expectations or obligations. Family vacationing, event vacationing and tourist vacationing - if ANY reading takes place, it should be a celebrated amount!🙂 (edited) 1mo
kim.guernsey @Nute I am in full support of a READING VACATION!! Maybe a solo overnight stay in a cheap local hotel would do the trick! 1mo

You guys! We got this from the library for my daughter. This kids book reads like it should be part of a true crime documentary with both sides telling different tales. It'd make a great "whodunnit" kind of story. I want this made into a show! ??

jmtrivera 😂 I loved that book as a kid! I'm pretty sure Kat has it somewhere, but we haven't read it yet. I'd totally make that TV show. 5mo
LibrarianRyan Love this book. 5mo
Princess-Kingofkings Our family loves this book. It is often my go to choice for a new baby or young child birthday gift. 🎁🐖🐺 5mo
kim.guernsey @Princess-Kingofkings great idea! I'm going to have to start doing the same, maybe with a copy of the traditional version too. 🐷🐷🐷🐺 5mo

What my husband doesn't know won't hurt him and he has no idea I posted this. 😂 As much as I love reading, I have a tough time starting new books, so last night I asked my husband to read the first page to me. I had hoped his literal start would help me pick up the rest. It worked! Mainly because the first page was a bit nonsensical and I had to grab it to make sure he wasn't messing with me. Then I proceeded to finish the first chapter. 😁

jmtrivera 😂😂😂 5mo

I just had a very sudden and real urge to wipe my TBR list clean and just start over. The idea freaks me out but I'm very curious if anyone else has done it. Thoughts??

Davor I've gone through it a few times to trim it down. I found myself amazed at how many of the titles I've put there I had no memory of. But it feels so good after you cut the huge number down 😄 6mo
kim.guernsey @Davor I couldn't get the idea out of my head so I went through last night and got rid of over 500 titles! I couldn't remember so many titles either! It feels like a virtual purge and a weight has been lifted 🤣 6mo

Apparently it's been 11 months since my last post. I took a break from Litsy to actually focus on reading instead of scrolling through my feed to see what everyone else was reading. I was lured back by the newly launched website/desktop. I checked it out and was reminded how much I missed a bookish community. Hi again! (5.28.19)

My library haul... Even though I made a bookalution to only read what I own... Oops!
1. The Sparrow, for @EclecticReaders IRL book club
2. Neverwhere, because I'm a newbie to Neil Gaiman😲
3. Pride and Prejudice, for an insanely specific square in #5book5bingo
4 and 5. Seige and Storm/Ruin and Rising, because I just finished Shadow and Bone and need to read the rest of the trilogy

Tamra I hope you like Sparrow! 2y

Warning: kind of personal blurb. Up next for #11thHourReadathon, I started this last year when I first started going to therapy. I still go, which is hard to admit, but #mentalhealth needs to be discussed more, so I'm starting with me. We still talk about my caretaking tendencies, but I never finished the book. I will for 2017, but plan to reread and work on the prompts next time. Here's to taking better care of our minds and hearts in 2018! ❤
