I‘m making a mood board for my Halloween costume. I think since this is our first Halloween married, my husband and I are going to go as a ghost bride and groom.
I hate to bail on this one. It was one of my most anticipated for fall. I just couldn‘t get into the story. I also didn‘t love the characters. To be fair, I am going into a reading slump. I think I will give it a try later on. Let me know in the comments if it‘s worth continuing.

So excited to get my Throne of Glass Bookish Box Part 2. I loved everything I received. Not pictured are two gorgeous dust jackets for Heir of Fire and Queen of Shadows. I couldn‘t get them to lay flat for the picture. If you want to see everything you get in the box up close check out https://readinginthewildwood.com/2019/10/14/throne-of-glass-bookish-box-part-2/
Fall weather has finally made it to Alabama! Cozy season has begun.
Ghost stories are some of my favorite paranormal stories. Here are some of my favorites.
Check out my new post about my favorite witchy reads on my blog. I am craving some good books about witches right now. I thought I would share some of my favorite witch stories.
Completed my reading goal of 50 books for 2019!
Witches and Wizards: Describe your favorite scene from the Harry Potter series.
My favorite scene was when they were on the train and Hogwarts was described for the first time. It was magical.
This book was creepy. I have never read anything like it. It had some seriously disturbing parts that I‘m not sure I will ever get over. If you want a scare read this. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ghost: Name a character you would like to visit you as a ghost.
This prompt confused me lol. I don‘t know if they mean like a dead character visit that visits you or just a character in general. I choose Scarlet O‘Hara. Of course, she didn‘t die in the book, but I guess since it took place in the Civil War she would technically be dead now.🤷♀️
I don‘t have much to say about this one. It was perfect. It was everything I wanted it to be. The artwork was gorgeous. The story was light and fun. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This month I wrapped up the Modern Mrs. Darcy Reading Challenge! I had a lot of fun with this! I did a prompt a month to leave plenty of room for my mood reading. I can‘t wait to participate again in 2020. I‘m also only one book away from completing my number goal this year!
So I was inspired by the Halloween Tag going around YouTube. I watched Bookables‘ video and thought it would be fun.
Today‘s Prompt is Pumpkin Carving: Name a book you would like to carve up and set on fire.
For me, that is The Diviners. I wanted to love this book and I was seriously disappointed. The overuse of 20s lingo was so annoying to me. I also did not like the main character.
My first Halloween read is complete, and it was fantastic. It was creepy, fun, and autumnal. Ray Bradbury‘s writing took me a bit to get used to, but after that I was hooked. I do wish more of the story took place in the carnival though. I have a lot to ramble about when it comes to this book so if you want to check out my full review it‘s here https://readinginthewildwood.com/2019/10/03/something-wicked-this-way-comes-revi...
It‘s finally October! Here is my Halloween TBR. If you want to know what each book is about check out https://readinginthewildwood.com/2019/10/01/halloween-to-be-read/
Also, I would love some recommendations for spooky Halloween reads. Comment and let me know what you‘re reading!
I got to do some reading this weekend in my favorite little town of Cave Spring, Georgia. I‘ve had a busy weekend. I have been to two fairs and started a blog! I I‘m excited for my new adventure. Litsy helped me discover that I love talking about books! If anyone wants to read my ramblings check out www.readinginthewildwood.com Also, I am new to this, so if any bloggers have advice I am all ears!
I am going into the weekend and I‘m not reading anything. I started the tagged book and I just can‘t get interested, so I‘m not going to force it. This weekend is packed so I think I‘ll give my brain a rest before I start my October reading. I‘m going to cram as many spooky and festive things in it as possible. 🎃🎃🎃🎃
I was not looking forward to this. The story line didn‘t follow Aelin so I expected just to read it and move on. Boy, was I wrong. This book captivated me from the beginning. Chaol went through some major character development. Nesryn became her own character. Yrene was introduced and I adored her. There were some major plot twists thrown in that I didn‘t expect at all. I didn‘t expect much plot development, but this book is crucial to the series.
Happy Fall. Here are a few of my favorite fall reads.
Miss Peregrine‘s Home for Peculiar Children is full of adventure, monsters, and creepy pictures.
House of Salt and Sorrows is atmospheric and has some spooky elements to it.
The Invited is about a couple that builds a house and it gets haunted by witches.
Sabrina is a witchy fun time.
Not pictured: Final Girls is set in October. It is full of murder and cupcakes. Perfect for fall. 😂🍂🍂🍂
Tonight, I am sitting down to read with homemade pear preserves. My mom and I made them fresh today. I love this time of year.
I had a love/hate relationship with this book. I was utterly confused until about page 86. I was so ready to quit because everything was happening and nothing made sense. However, if you trust the process your questions will get answered. I found the magic system a little strange. It was entertaining and perfect for this time of year. For a debut, it was really well crafted. The world was fully put together. I just didn‘t love the world. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I‘m not far enough in to this to form an opinion on the book yet, but this has got to be one of the best author blurbs I have ever read. 😂
I love this idea @Book_Fairy_Mary
What a great way to learn more about the people in our community! I am under the weather today, so I hope a puppy picture will suffice since I look like death. 😂 Here are some facts about me:
1. I am a history buff. I love old houses/things/places.
2. Cooking and baking are passions of mine.
3. While I‘m trying to drink more water, I am pretty sure my blood is mostly Coca-cola.
Getting ready for date night with my husband and it turns out my eyeshadow matched my book. 😂
Can‘t wait to start this one! I have heard great things about it.
I will not be the same after this book. It‘s not only a favorite of the year, it‘s a favorite of life. Margaret Mitchell is the queen of character development. Every character goes through major growth. I had a love hate, but mostly hate, relationship with Scarlett. She has very few redeeming characteristics. Melanie is everything that Scarlett is not and I loved her. If I could give this more than five stars I would.
Ready to get off work so I can sit and read with my favorite dog. Hopefully I can finish up with the tagged book this weekend.
