Just started #SorceryOfThorns and it is giving me ALL the Howl's Moving Castle vibes and I am LIVING for it 🙌 I knew it was going to be good after reading (and living) her first book, AN ENCHANTMENT OF RAVENS, but this one might just be even better!!

IndyHannaJones I just bought this and I love Howl's Moving Castle! 7mo

I'm about a quarter of the way through #WickedFox and Oh. My. Goodness. This book. It's so good! I'm so excited to find a new diverse urban fantasy and the story had me hooked from the very start. So excited to read the rest and this is definitely one to get on your radar. Out next month!

This book was A Struggle. Bored for most of it, and then the story started to pick up around the 60-70% mark but by that point I was reading more as a completionist than for actual interest in the book. It just didn't keep my attention enough to invest in the characters or what was happening. With all the rave reviews, I feel like I read an entirely different book. #audiobook

Definitely not a win for me despite the book having potential.

I was torn after reading this book. Had I picked I up a few years ago I would likely be rating it fairly high (I did enjoy it, and the narrator on the audiobook was good). But in the last couple years I've become more aware of potentially problematic content (being in the community and listening to the discussions) and I found that while I liked this book, it normalized some more toxic themes so my end review is somewhat middling.

This book is FABULOUS! And I mean that in every way possible. I read Illuminae and Gemina a while ago but with #Obsidio coming out soon I want to tell everyone that you NEED these books on your shelves! Some of the best YA sci-fi novels I've ever read!

This is one of my favorite series and I really hope I can get my current TBR low enough that I have time to re-read it!

Definitely recommend the VA books for anyone looking for a fun, action-packed YA vampire series!

I picked 15 of my favorite reads of 2017 and talked about them on the blog! It was so hard to choose as there were some fabulous books out this year and more great ones coming out next year, so I only picked ones that are published before 2018! You can check out the whole list on NovelKnight (link in bio!)

Just a few of my fave reads from the last couple years. Have you read any of them?

TheSketchyReader No! If you had to pick a favorite, which one would you recommend I read first? 2y
novelknight @TheSketchyReader Oh that's so hard! they're all amazing and it really depends on what you're in the mood to read. most are fantasies except for Upside which is a contemporary. It's a good place to start, whether you're a fan of the genre or not! (I'm not much of a contemporary reader myself but it made my list of best books!) 2y
TheSketchyReader @novelknight thank you! I do read fantasy but not often. One of the most interesting ones I read this year is Magic Bitter, Magic Sweet. Thanks for the recommendations! 2y

Love love LOVE The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty! 😍 It came out from @HarperVoyagerUS last month and became one of my fave adult fantasies of the year!

The worldbuilding is fantastic and I didn't feel the story dragged or became lost in the details. And after that ending, I'm dying for a sequel!

Working in a university library during finals week certainly doesn't leave much reading time but come Friday, I'm devouring this book! The Loom Saga is absolutely AMAZING, would definitely recommend the series (and all her books really) if you haven't read them yet.

I could probably rate this book 5 stars before even starting but I'll wait to finish it anyway 😉

Showing a little #Caraval love here ♥ I'm not all that familiar with Litsy and haven't posted much but I have to say I'm curious what this app can offer as a bookish community space!

DebinHawaii Welcome back to Litsy. 🎉📚It is a fabulous community with a lot going on and some wonderful people. All kinds of discussions, buddy reads, and other fun things. Just jump in and have fun. Ask any questions you have. For people to follow and tips for using it @RaimeyGallant has a tag called #LitsyWelcomeWagon & a blog post (I think the link is on her profile) with good info. 2y
novelknight @DebinHawaii Yes I believe I received a comment regarding the welcome wagon earlier today, actually! I'm excited as I've grown quite frustrated with instagram, the algorithm, and such but still enjoy sharing book photos. Looking forward to getting more involved here! 2y

DebinHawaii Oh whoops! I should have looked at the comment below! 😬I think once you get into it, you'll enjoy Litsy. I think the people on here are great and friendly and respectful. Enjoy! 2y

novelknight @DebinHawaii Thanks!! 😃 2y
novelknight @RaimeyGallant Thanks for the link again 😃 I'll be sharing with some of my blogger friends as we all are a little out of the Litsy loop (for now!) 2y
ScorpioBookDreams Litsy is so much more relaxed than Instagram. I use both but litsy is very friendly and photos don‘t need to be as staged. 2y
novelknight @ScorpioBookDreams Yeah I've noticed that! Which is great because staging photos is so much time/work lol 2y
RaimeyGallant Awesome. I look forward to getting to know all of you. 2y

I REALLY wanted to like this book. The writing was beautiful, the world multi-faceted and detailed, even the characters on their own were decent.

But don't give me a friendship that's supposed to be deep and ends up as a one-sided, semi-unrequited love deal. Literally ruined the book for me despite all the other great things about it.

Definitely one that wasn't a good fit for me.

Stalking Jack the Ripper | Kerri Maniscalco

Pickpick

Y'all need to read this book.

A murderer on the loose, a woman way ahead of her time, and the plot thickening with each bloody body. Maniscalco knocks it out of the park with her Victorian debut combining a fiesty young woman with a hobby of playing with corpses and the mystery behind the infamous Jack the Ripper. Full review to come tomorrow during the SJTR blog tour!
