Reading about other sketchy periods in American history (and how democracy survived/thrived) is bringing me comfort lately! #audiocleaning

RamsFan1963 I've seen this on Audible, considered adding it to my library, even though I already have too many waiting now. Let me know if it's worth adding. 4y

Pickpick

Called a traitor to his class by the rich, I can‘t imagine what the U.S. would be like if he wasn‘t elected President at the beginning of the Great Depression.
Very sharp mind , if a program didn‘t work, pivot, move on , try something else. The man that brought you social security & deposit insurance. The little paperback a Pocket book published after his death in 1945, the small picture was displayed in my great aunts house.

#brothercanyouspareadime #gotchange I‘m reading a book about the first 100 days of FDRs administration, after bank failures & such , a shortage of change.
Even though our health crisis is different, seems some of the effects are the same.

Curbside pickup with Phoenix Public Library started this week.Reserve online , go to location, park in numbered space , call , tell them your name they check it out with your card number and place it in your trunk.

JoyBlue Our library is starting curbside pick-up June 2. Next week, we trustees are going to serve as guinea pigs. 5y
Leftcoastzen @JoyBlue the librarian was gloved and masked as was I , and I did not leave my car , said thank you out the window.Phx Library is going to quarantine materials that come back for 72 hours . Thank You for being a library trustee !👏👍😷 (edited) 5y
JoyBlue @Leftcoastzen That sounds like our new procedures. You're welcome—it's my honor and pleasure! 5y

vivastory This is exactly the procedure my library used for curbside pickup that started last week. I'm glad that they are taking these precautions! 5y
Leftcoastzen @vivastory It is good to have real books from the library again , glad they seemed to be keeping it safe and well organized. They also upped the content with Hoopla & Overdrive a plus . 5y
vivastory I'm not going to lie. I was ridiculously happy to be getting new materials from the library! 5y

Spent 3 days last week at a conference with my favorites...librarians. Jon Alter was our luncheon speaker and I've had opportunity to do a little research for him on Jimmy Carter, the topic of his next book. He gave a very enjoyable speech praising libraries and librarians. Of course, this was music to our ears.
