5.skip the first. Often if I try a new series I‘m not sure I want to start, I pick one that is further along in the series, a hunch that the author has hit their stride with the characters.

pickLow pick . Some of the writing was beautiful, definitely a bit pretentious. There was one person on Goodreads saying it‘s a BS ending . Agree , but enjoyed enough to finish! Trying to #readmyshelves and get some books gone!

pickBeautifully written, it will make you think. A multigenerational story, looks at how even science can bust up families, people with the best intentions, create secrets that some can‘t forgive. About immigration, the illusions of the American dream , how immigrants assimilate and so much more. There is a sadness to it maybe more noticeable by me as I‘m a bit sad these days.
Only @dabbe and I get to complain about the heat !Or Death Valley people or other Phoenicians! Note 100 at 11 pm. This is WTF heat

pickI loved this book! When Masha the Siberian Forest Cat picks out Caleb at the shelter, the workers beg him to take her, they are afraid of her. Caleb has a house out in the woods in upstate New York, a writers life is quiet, he built a place to give him space & peace.Masha & Caleb developed such a tight bond. Both had been abused in different ways. Masha is so wild at heart , so many of her encounters on the property heart stopping.All the stars !

#SummerSouls #Rollercoaster I am fascinated w/all things NYC & Coney Island in particular. This book is a tale told in postcards from its grand times in the 1880s to WWI . There were 3 large amusement parks that eventually were lost to fire. Nicknamed Sodom by the Sea w/ rail connections hundreds of thousands would come per day.There is a record that 1 day in 1906 200k postcards were mailed from Coney. I treasure this book I‘ve had for decades .
