Hopefully all my posts about this made it obvious, but this book blew my mind. Amazingly comprehensive for its length, Abbott covers the history of celibacy from a worldwide perspective throughout recorded history. Shocking and enlightening by turns.

This passage comes at the end of a devastating section on early-mid 20th century eugenics policies, so I can only assume it's meant for comic relief.

I know I've been quoting a lot from this book but it's fascinating! Believe it or not I've been restraining myself from posting more.
