Knight's Castle
Knight's Castle | Edward Eager
2 posts | 13 read | 3 to read
If the old toy soldier hadn't come to life, Roger would never have discovered the magic. And that would never have happened if he and his sister, Ann, hadn't been sent to stay with their bossy cousins for the summer. And that wouldn't have happened at all if their father hadn't gotten sick and gone into the hospital. But all of that did happen, and now Roger, his sister, and their cousins find themselves in a bygone world of chivalry and knighthood, of Robin Hood and Ivanhoe. In this knightly realm they can make a difference—and perhaps even save the person they most need to save—if only they are smart and brave enough, if only they are true to their hearts.

Book no. 12A for May's #BookSpinBonanza is the sequel to Half Magic. At first I was sad about the non-appearance of the original children...until the names of aunts and uncles began to sound familiar...

Another super fun read, although if I was more familiar with Ivanhoe I may have gotten a bit more from it!!

Addison_Reads The artwork reminds me of Quentin Blake. I love his illustrations on Roald Dahl's books. I'll have to check this series out. They look fun. 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Addison_Reads - it's a trick move, because Quentin Blake did the cover illustrations but someone else did the interior illustrations. But these are super fun little stories - nothing crazy, but fun little reads. 4y

All of Edward Eager's books are terrific. I highly recommend them, residual as read-alouds.
