Talking Heads
Talking Heads | Alan Bennett
4 posts | 5 read | 2 to read
The complete collection of monologues from the master of observation. Alan Bennett sealed his reputation as the master of observation with this series of twelve groundbreaking monologues, originally filmed for BBC Television. At once darkly comic, tragically poignant and wonderfully uplifting, Talking Heads is widely regarded as a modern classic. This new edition, which contains the complete collection of Talking Heads, as well as his earlier monologue, A Woman of No Importance, is a celebration of Alan Bennett’s finest work.

In college, my #requiredreading was Talking Heads by British playwright Alan Bennett. As a fellow Yorkshireman, he had a brilliant sense of humour and went to Oxford Uni where he was great mates with - what turned out to be - the Monty Python crew.

Thanks for a fun 10 days @WhiskeyMistress @ErinSueG 😘😘😘

Not the tagged book but three monologues performed by Thora Hird: The Last of the Sun, A Cream Cracker Under the Settee, and Waiting for the Telegram.

With his status of National Treasure assured, it's easy to forget that Alan Bennett doesn't shy away from difficult and even taboo subjects. And the empathy in his writing of elderly women is extraordinary. (Thora Hird's performance is spot on!)

Another book in my mission to read all my sister's books and I have to admit I thought I was going to hate this! Expected it to be boring but I actually loved it! It's a collection of monologues and they were amazing! Funny yet thought provoking. I definitely recommend
