Panpan

I skimmed a ton of this because I just wanted to solve the mystery from the prologue, and even that was disappointing. There‘s way too much going on in this book. Insta-lust, controlling parents, she won‘t commit to him until he‘s as emotionally invested as she is, slave traders, martial arts experts secretly operating in Boston, Highland clan hierarchy...too much, none of it handled well. Pass.

I‘m struggling to connect with this book. Not sure exactly why.

Then this came along. The young lady‘s guard is an ageless Asian man (at least not Oriental, right?). Then, wait for it...he‘s enigmatic! Pretty standard, pretty racist. Turn the page to discover - he‘s called Old Chinese. And a martial arts expert (acupuncture, too). At least he speaks with “a flawless Oxford accent.”

I‘m going to keep going for now, but I just don‘t know.

I can‘t seem to post anything in a timely fashion these days! Well, my #EasterExtravaganza update is fair to middling: I finished House of Hades and the wretched Nancy Drew, and started the tagged book for a comfort read (for my #COVID19challenge)/one-word title (for my bingo card), but it‘s dragging. No audio progress, so I‘m 1/3 on my goals. Been a busy week with no me-time.

Andrew65 Given your weeks you have done well. 😊👍 4y
ravenlee Thanks @Andrew65 it feels like it shouldn‘t be this hard - husband is working some normal days and home others, still homeschooling, still doing all the Suzie Homemaker duties, but it all seems to be taking up more time than usual. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 4y
