This is a fascinating look at how diplomats and political leaders develop and employ "strategic empathy" to understand the drivers and constraints of their counterparts. It's a history book built on detailed case studies of key interactions in the 20th century: Gandhi and the British, The Weimar Republic and the Bolsheviks, FDR and Stalin with Hitler, the North Vietnamese and the US... I recommend the audiobook -- well worth the time!
