A Criminal Defense
A Criminal Defense | William L. Myers, Jr.
10 posts | 10 read | 10 to read
Losing the trial of his life could mean losing everything. When a young reporter is found dead and a prominent Philadelphia businessman is accused of her murder, Mick McFarland finds himself involved in the case of his life. The defendant, David Hanson, is Mick's best friend, and the victim, a TV news reporter, had reached out to Mick for legal help only hours before her death. Mick's played both sides of Philadelphia's courtrooms. As a top-shelf defense attorney and former prosecutor, he knows all the tricks of the trade. And he'll need every one of them to win. But as the trial progresses, he's disturbed by developments that confirm his deepest fears. This trial, one that already hits too close to home, may jeopardize his firm, his family-everything. Now Mick's only way out is to mastermind the most brilliant defense he's ever spun, one that may cross every legal and moral boundary.

This stack of books has been next to me for about a week. Part of it is my latest book haul. I‘ll probably grab from this stack for my next book, but we‘ll see.

1. Alabama, right on the Florida line.

2. Depends on the day and my mood.

3. A Criminal Defense by William L. Meyers, Jr.

4. Seafood or a good blue rare filet

5. 2 German Shepherds and 1 Shih Tzu

6. Loads of them!

Kaye I‘d love to visit Alabama. I bet there‘s lots of friendly people down your way. What are all your questions ? 6y
jessijames @Kaye The Gulf Coast is absolutely breathtaking. The people are very friendly. My comment about having many questions was more of an inside joke. I‘m a naturally inquisitive person and always asking questions. 🧐 6y
Kaye I bet it is gorgeous. You‘ve found the right person then. I like yakking. Asking and answering questions 😁 6y

So far i‘m liking my first audiobook. BUT not this narrator 😂😂😂 im sorry he sounds like a sleaze ball and dont get me started on his female voices jajajajja. I love how much Philly is in this book.

Kaye I know what you mean about the narrators. They can make a book really good or really bad. Soon you‘ll find some favorite ones and look for books narrated by specific people who always make the book more enjoyable. 6y
Lexeegee Most men really suck at female voices. They sound so insipid. But the right narrators can make a book come alive! 6y

Well. That was unexpected. That's a good thing in a legal thriller. This is definitely a good legal thriller, with twists and turns. You might need a visual aid to keep track of who is with whom, and when, but it was fun. 4.5⭐for sure.

One of the problems with listening to any audiobook set in Philly is that there's two ways to pronounce any word, the right way, and the Philly way.

Mixed feeling. Well executed Legal Thrilling full of characters who I would have loved to see die a slow painful death.

Finished my audiobook. Trying, so far unsuccessfully to find a short book to hold me over until Dogs of War comes out Tuesday. Milo is not helping.

Stated this today. Philly based legal thriller. So far it's pretty by the numbers. Shockingly, the narration is annoying me and I tend to like Peter Berkrot. Being that I tend to enjoy even mediocre legal thrillers I'm giving this a long rope. Plus, gotta support Philly authors.

CouronneDhiver Sounds good. I'll check it out :) 7y
