WOW! This book was incredible!
The King Family could best be described as the Kennedy's of Kentucky. Politics, scandal, and lies combine to create one of the best mysteries I've read in a long time. The twists and turns in this book will keep you guessing! I could NOT but this book down! Run don‘t walk to this one when it‘s published on 2/1/22!

Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson fiction for such a great read!

I enjoyed this even more than the first book. While the book still gives off serious Gossip Girl vibes the way the female characters come into their own was great. I‘m looking forward to book 3. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5.

I forced myself to read this sequel after thinking the first book was just okay. I‘m surprised that I enjoyed this one much more than Anna K. The characters growth was predictable but still entertaining. My high school students will definitely love this one. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5.

As a high school librarian I try to read as much YA as possible. This one is a cute retelling of Anna Karenina but nothing spectacular. I‘m reading the sequel next only because my students love these books.

A good, quick read. Was it memorable? Not really but still worth the read. I enjoyed the insight into the life of these women from Ghana and their family dynamics but I wanted more. I felt the plot could‘ve included so much more insight into their traditions and culture. We definitely need more diverse books such as these! ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5.

Librariana What in particular spoke to you about this one? Curious minds 😁😊💜📚 4y
jessijames @Librariana The hardships that were forced upon the women and the different ways they handled them. I had to understand their family secrets. The family dynamic was simultaneously beautiful and heartbreaking. 4y

1. I‘m a high school librarian so I read tons of YA.
2. The Blood and Ash series by Jennifer L. Armentrout is great. I personally enjoy the audiobooks.
3. A book is YA when it is has at least one teenage protagonist and is mostly told from a teenage perspective.

I‘m really torn on this one. The book definitely kept my attention but I find it hard to truly enjoy a book with so many characters that are so revolting. A high school kid is a kid and no grown woman should be messing with them. If I had known this was included in the book I don‘t think I would have selected it. #botm

I found the story of how the Queen of Hearts became the ruthless person we see in Alice in Wonderland interesting but this was definitely not a favorite. People love this book. I get it and I understand. However, I‘m not one of those people.
