En oktoberdag i 2013 forlader søstrene Ayan og Leila deres hjem i en lille norsk by. Da det sent om aftenen går op for familien, at døtrene ikke kommer hjem fra skole, er det for sent. Pigerne er på vej til Syrien. Deres far rejser efter pigerne i en desperat jagt på at finde dem. To søstre er en stærk familiefortælling om at prøve at finde sin egen identitet i en anden kultur. Det er samtidig et globalt samtidsportræt, hvor verdens kulturelle- og religiøse sammenstød mere og mere insisterende banker på døren, også i en lille norsk by.

Very well-written and well-structured, and fascinating from start to finish. Probably one of the best books I‘ve read this year. This book should be obligatory reading!

tricours @Cinfhen I haven‘t read her in AGES and I‘m glad I read this one now because I‘ve got another one at home! (Angel of Grozny I think) And she‘s written a book about Breivik, One of Us, which I must get my hands on. 7y

tricours @Cinfhen she‘s Norwegian, so I read her books in Norwegian! (My comfortable languages to read in are Swedish, Norwegian, English and French) 7y
