I do like Keats' poetry. He creates vivid worlds with his words, and despite the age of his poetry it is still quite easy to read and understand. The way he uses myths in poems such as Ode to Pysche is fun and interesting for me.
Probably something I'd read again 😊

Haroon_Ishaq Ethereal, flush'd, and like a throbbing star
Seen mid the sapphire heaven's deep repose;
Into her dream he melted, as the rose
Blendeth its odour with violet,

I love the Romantic poets, and Keats is no exception. Some re-reads and new reads for me in this selection.

UnabridgedTomes Lovely flowers! 7y
Brie @UnabridgedTomes Thank you, I planted zinnias this year and they're just starting to bloom. 7y
vivastory "To Autumn," "Ode on a Grecian Urn" & "Ode to a Nightingale" are truly flawless poems, for me Keats work is one of the greatest achievements in English. Just as magnificent as Shakespeare. 7y
Brie I agree, I never tire of his poetry. And I must've read those you mentioned half a dozen times. @vivastory 7y

Mehso-so

I'm not sure I can give a fair review on this because half of it would have been much more effective if I had a better working knowledge of classical references and whilst it didn't make reading this pointless by any stretch it did leave me with a residing feeling of 'meh' I think I might name reading on the subject then come back and see if I change my mind.

Hoping it will be a return to form today, it's guaranteed to be less cynical at least

Loretta You're reading these in order? I got the set myself a few weeks ago but haven't started yet. 8y
smccallum @Loretta I am! I've been reading them at the weekend and it's largely been great but this weekend has been slightly disappointing 8y
Loretta I should follow your example. So far they've just been sitting there looking pretty. Wonder if I could finish the entire thing this year... 🤔 8y
smccallum @Loretta I don't know how much you read but I'd say that's pretty feasible, they read quickly and are quite morish, I'm limiting myself to two a week so I can afford to keep adding to the collection and don't run out before I can! 8y
