Stone Barrington returns in the new edge-of-your-seat thriller from the #1 New York Times bestselling author. When he s apprised at the last minute of a mandatory meeting abroad, Stone Barrington rushes off to Europe for a whirlwind tour of business and, of course, pleasure. But from the start the trip seems to be cursed, plagued by suspicious accidents and unfortunate events, and some of Stone s plans go up in flames literally. Not a believer in coincidence, Stone sets out to learn the true source of his curious misfortune and finds that what appeared to be bad luck may, in fact, have been a warning. From the chic streets of Paris to Italy's spectacular Amalfi Coast, Stone is pursued from all sides . . . but when the tables turn, the hunted may become the hunter . . ."

A quick and fun adventure. Stone heads to Italy for a sudden board meeting. The hotel he purchased is burned down, his car gets stolen when he and Heddy head out for a weekend adventure and then Heddy gets kidnapped. An old nemesis has raised his head. Humor is also available.

If you need a quick read and don‘t care about the lack of characterization and narration then this works

This was a fast read. I really enjoy this series. I have the next few lined up 😁 Stone always ends up with a new love interest right off the bat and has the most interesting conflicts/scenarios.
I've actually started this series since Two-Dollar Bill. So not starting from Book 1 is okay.

It‘s an easy read, like mind numbing easy. I finished my vacation reads early & found this at that condo so I picked it & brought it beachside. If not for fact that I can happily invest hours plopped oceanside, I would not have made it past the first 20 pages. But, the weather was awesome, the sand felt good of my feet, & the Gulf was spectacular, so I plowed on. I‘m certain these aforementioned elements are the only reasons for the so-so rating.
