I listened to this on Audible & it was absolutely positively fantastic!! I‘m an avid reader but can‘t imagine consuming this story any other way. The cast was incredible, it was as though I was transported to the theater with a standing ovation at the performance‘s end 👏

It‘s an easy read, like mind numbing easy. I finished my vacation reads early & found this at that condo so I picked it & brought it beachside. If not for fact that I can happily invest hours plopped oceanside, I would not have made it past the first 20 pages. But, the weather was awesome, the sand felt good of my feet, & the Gulf was spectacular, so I plowed on. I‘m certain these aforementioned elements are the only reasons for the so-so rating.

Was not impressed this book, it took me far too long to finally finish. The characters were hard to connect with and well..... unlikeable. Hoped throughout the laborious read that the plot would pick up & do a little but it never happened. Oh well, on to the next.

DivineDiana So sorry. On to the next! 👍🏻 6y

A book worth reading on a lazy Sunday afternoon or perched in a beach chair on a sunny vacation day. It reminds us that memory is fickle especially when dealing with a traumatic event such as the witnessing the kidnapping of ones twin sisters at a young age and returning to the place that housed those memories to uncover the truth, which even surprised me.

Wow! I mean like, WOW!!! This is a beautifully written book that has it all. Love, loss, despair, loneliness, survival, prejudice, resilience, strength, determination, hope, all wrapped up in one young girl / woman. This, by far is one of the best books I read & one that has stirred my soul like no other. #TEAMKYA!

Oracle I agree 😊 6y

Wow! Couldn‘t put this one down. A creepy, psychological thriller unlike any other. The story vacillates between the past & the present & both timelines are equally scary & tense. This one will stay with you long after you finish!

AmandaEve I‘m halfway through with this! I have so many things to do but I can‘t put it down lol 6y
JillyMann I was the same, Amanda! The chores can wait 😁 6y

A decade old murder revisited; twisted family drama; a true crimes blogger trying propel her career; a twin sister running & hiding from her past (always works out so well); earmarkings of a great thriller & doesn‘t disappoint! At a young age, one of the twins witnesses her dads murder & her testimony convicts her 17 year old neighbor. A ruthless podcaster revisits the murder & questions the evidence & the past violently crashes into the present.

Although a slow building kind of suspense, it kept me. A young gal receives a letter that her grandmother left her an inheritance. Since both grandparents died decades ago, something is amiss but in desperate need of cash, she travel to Trespassen House to claim her fortune. There, she meets her “family” & as the dangerous mystery, unravels, she learns these lives a far more intertwined then she ever imagined! Yep, another goodie by Ms. Ware

Helena, who appears to be living a normal life with her family in small town in the U.P. (Upper Peninsula, for the non-Michiganders out there 😁). Her life is upended when The Marsh King (a notorious child abductor) escapes from prison & her dark secret is revealed, she is the product of that abduction & raised by this man on The Marsh. With deft hunting & tracking skills, she risks it all to hunt her father. A heart pounding, page-turning read!

The Haunting of Hill House | Shirley Jackson

Although coined as a horror book, I‘m more inclined to categorize it as a psychological thriller that sends shivers up your spine. Perhaps in a similar ilk of Poltergeist. Three people are tapped by a doctor to help investigate whether Hill House is indeed haunted. For me, the hair raising tingling started within the first 20 pages and didn‘t let up. Read with the lights on!

One Second After | William R. Forstchen

This is a terrifying read that scared the hell out of me because it truly could happen. It‘s about an EMP (electromagnetic pulse) attack on the US, which renders useless every electrical device known to man. The focus is one mans family & how his community must work together to survive in its aftermath. The heartbreaking sacrifices, struggles, & insight into how your hometown would need to unify under Marshall Law to survive.

tpixie I‘ve always thought this would be a great premise for a book. Stacked! ( Maybe I need to take a survival course 🤪) 6y
JillyMann Lol! After reading this book, I thought the same thing.... damn, I‘m so not prepared! 6y

Friends, secrets, & psychopaths converge in a secluded cabin in the woods. Guised as a “hen weekend” aka bachelorette party, old & new friends escape the city for the secluded cabin. As secrets unfold & strange things begin to happen (a frightening Ouija session, strange footprints in the snow, phones stop working, & of course, the ominous rifle that hangs over the fireplace) the cagey behavior ensues. A great mystery-thriller read!

Loved, loved, loved! An excellent first novel for this freshman author! A mystery-thriller about a college student who has had the same reoccurring dream since childhood. As these dreams continue to haunt her, she leaves her studies for home. When an ominous package arrives, it sets her off on a journey to discover her past but learns of a startling future. All the spine-tingling elements of fallen Angels, Heaven, Hell, & fate. LOVED!

A historical true novel set in the late 1800‘s about the first black student, Anita Hemmings, to attend Vassar. She befriended & roomed with one of America‘s top socialites & daughter of one NY‘s most prominent families. The amazing twist, Anita successfully entered as & passed as white. Heartbreaking & infuriating to read is when her “best friend” learns her secret, how the relationship ends & the damage she tries to inflict.

Great book that explores life, family, friends, & domestic drama, in the “perfect” community, Shaker Heights, OH. It touches on the burden of secrets, lost dreams, and how spiteful behavior masked as good intentions can ruin a family & destroy friendships. The first part of the book is a little slow & one can lose interest, but it does provide valuable character insight & plot set up.

Dr. Anna Fox, a child phycologist & acrophobic (phobia of open spaces) is bound to her house after an accident. To keep herself occupied, she watches her neighbors through her window with binoculars. A family moves in across the way. Through a series of events, she befriends the wife & teenage son, & the drama, suspense, & fun begins. A slow start, with too many references & flashbacks to old movies, but worth the read.
