Aw. This is down to 99 cents, but the writing style isn't clicking with me.

Mehso-so

I wanted to like this book more than I did. A book so steeped in Chicago that it starts out with a reference to Malort, a book that seems to be the bastard child of Alice in Wonderland and A Christmas Carol... And it just never came together for me. Bits were amusing and intriguing, but I never quite got the bigger picture. A shame, really, since it seems clear the author loves Chicago just as I do.

Begun on a whim when I couldn't face a bleak Scandinavian mystery, I find that I'm bemused and charmed by turns. A truly strange narrative.
