2 posts | 2 read
He comes out of the darkness, moving in on his victims in deadly silence. When he leaves, a trail of blood is all that remains. He is a monster, Grendel, and all who know of him live in fear. Hrothgar, the king of the Danes, knows something must be done to stop Grendel. But who will guard the great hall he has built, where so many men have lost their lives to the monster while keeping watch? Only one man dares to stand up to Grendel's fury --Beowulf. Pickpick

I really enjoyed this version of Beowulf. Very accessible- could be this is geared towards a youth reading level BUT!! Lots of words I needed to have defined: tarn spoor brand (context was not fittable to my brain‘s understanding) and a few others. So PICK! I am glad I read this as an Introduction to my Grendel audiobook I am going to start tomorrow for club.

(Apparently I saw 2007 movie but only recall how scary was Angelina Jolie 💃🏼🗡️🐍)

Michreader3 I read Grendel for an AP class a while ago and it was definitely a bit hard to understand at parts, so cool that this one is more accessible! 7mo

Starting a “pre-read” of Beowulf, in a hopefully easy-to-digest version, BEFORE tackling the next Gnome de Plume bookclub pick of Grendel by John Gardner. #booksandbeer 🍻 #classics
