Professional Standards
Professional Standards | John Rigbey
Within months of the Leveson enquiry into phone hacking and malpractice by journalists, private detectives and police officers, a Flying Squad detective sergeant is arrested in possession of corruptly received money. His subsequent murder and that of his mistress leads Detective Chief Inspector Gregory into a network of corruption and wickedness within Scotland Yard which seems to stem from the internal discipline department itself - the Directorate of Professional Standards. As Gregory and his team look into the activities of a corrupt detective agency and that firm's partners, a web of international drug dealing, money laundering and murder is exposed. As Gregory's investigation progresses he finds that many of those involved are Freemasons and that lodge meetings may be being used for covert discussions and the passing of illegally obtained cash. Further murders follows and the reader is given insights into the world of the police informants, their handlers and the inherent dangers of police association with career criminals. John Rigbey writes about what he knows and understands. "Professional Standards" is authentic and gritty. It is about real life and things that are happening today.
