Sadly Not For Me. Jane Talbot has a knack for traditional fairy tale narratives, but her use of language quickly felt forced and irritating (altho I think it would work fine for me performed / told orally, so maybe consider this as an audio book).

The best friends send you books unannounced 😍
Short story collections can be hit and miss. When some of the stories in The Faerie Thorn hit they hit hard.
These short stories all live and move and have their being in the supernatural realm in Northern Ireland.
The three stories in the middle of this book made me heart-sore and joy-filled. I loved it.
A giant oak tree leaves his place in the forest to speak peace to some distressed villagers. From the short story The Song of Hulva:
At the end of the sermon, he gentled them and couraged them and loved the forgiveness deep into their souls.
Amergin has severe physical disabilities. This is his parents' response. From the short story The Story of Amergin:
When people saw Amergin for the first time, they fair froze with fright, but Eccet simply said, "This is Amergin and he is my son and he will be loved..."
And that is exactly what people did...
An ugly merman gives sight to a blind girl in the short story The Merrow of Murlough Bay:
She looked directly into Bright Blue's remaining eye and said, "The glow in me is so big that I cannot contain it. My all-on-my-ownness was as big as the sky, but now it is gone."
Daughter McCormick warm-held Bright Blue's face and true-told him that he was savage-beautiful. Bright Blue's heart glowed so big inside him that he shone like the summer sun.
This book...
It is exquisite.
I will be sharing MANY quotes as I read along.

This is just one little shelf that makes up the vast #MountTBR . I love my little knitted hedgehog. He's sitting on top of my current stack of library books.
