Scochrane26 The warriors series for kiddie lit. My friend‘s daughter has read most of them, & I read Into the Wild for a book challenge. They‘re about cats but can be confusing because there‘s a lot of them. Into the Wild is the first one. By Erin hunter (edited) 6y

Station Eleven | Emily St John Mandel

So I said I'd start this book tonight when I saw @ephemeralwaltz had started it and I'd posted about it for #readingwomenmonth I think it's safe to say I'll probably finish this one tonight and that I'm enjoying it so far. How are you finding it?
I'm also reading roughly 2 chapters a day for #lolitalightofmyreadathon and got through my four chapters of that last night. The prose so far is lovely but not fully going into the story quite yet.

Weaponxgirl @ephemeralwaltz working a night has a lot to do with it honestly. Once cleaning is done and it's just regular checks if people are asleep I find reading is something keeps me awake but means I can hear anything if there's a problem (edited) 7y

Andrew65 @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I‘ve not seen one but have reached that crazy time of year where the next three weeks I could fill my time 10 times over at work. Reading will be difficult over the next two weeks in particular whilst I read and write 400 reports along with everything else. Have now got a copy of the book just need to find time to catch up! 😳 I missed taking part! 😒 7y

For #Fantasy I have gone for Robin Hobb and the world she created! Only read the first trilogy but KNOW I will be reading the others. Thoroughly recommended.

AlaMich I tried to order the Tawny Man trilogy in that same Harper Voyager edition from Amazon because I love the covers. Amazon sent me a different, horrible edition with this long-haired blond dude—their idea of Fitz I guess— on the covers instead. False advertising!! 😠 (edited) 7y

AlaMich @ephemeralwaltz You should give them a try! There are definitely fantasy elements—one of the trilogies in the series does feature sentient, talking ships 😉—but they are well-written and just good! 7y

ravenlee I just read Bear and the Nightingale, and the sequel. Bear took a little while to get into, as there's quite a bit of build-up. But sooo good. 7y

Small Island: A Novel | Andrea Levy

The last day of #readingwomenmonth and #diversespines and both have the prompt #tbr. I recently joined my libraries bookclub and I picked this one out last month for us to read in July.
It's about the Caribbean immigrant experience in the uk and I think it's a particularly good choice considering just how disgusting my government has been to the windrush generation recently.
I've loved these challenges and everyone's recommendations!

Bookwomble I was going to say what a coincidence it is that the book you're reading and the one I've just finished - very different from each other - should have put us both in mind of the Windrush scandal, but as it's happening now, I guess it's hard not to be confronted with it. 7y

Weaponxgirl @Bookwomble I know that I always read books and in my head compare them to things that are happening at the moment, I think a great book allows you to do that. Strangely enough I didn't twig at the time of picking this that I'd picked a very politically relevant book only when I thought about it now. Should make for an interesting bookclub. 7y
