The Underground Railroad
The Underground Railroad | William Still
1 post | 1 read | 3 to read
A "conductor" based in Philadelphia, Still (1821-1902) helped guide fugitive slaves to safety in the years before the Civil War. He also created this unforgettable oral history, a collection of carefully preserved letters, newspaper articles, and accounts from witnesses about refugees' hardships, narrow escapes, and deadly struggles. "Highly recommended." -- "Midwest Book Review." Over 50 illustrations.Reprint of the Porter & Coates, Philadelphia

Pickpick

William Still collected the stories of people that had been enslaved, after their freedom. This book has 40 narratives. Heart breaking, and necessary reading for recognition with and healing from the American past. It won‘t be long before they try to ban this too. Critical race theory=American History. Thank you Mr. Still. Highly recommended.
