This is Marthe McKenna's memoir of her time as a spy for the Allies in occupied Belgium during the First World War. She is a candid, compassionate narrator and acknowledges the terrible human cost of war, but does what she believes is right. Recommended if you're interested in WW1 or the early days of modern espionage.
Winston Churchill wrote the foreword and was up till 4 a.m. reading this book. I'd believe it!
Another themed library haul: books about women working in intelligence during the world wars.
(The tagged book is actually by Marthe McKenna; Winston Churchill merely wrote the foreword.)
