A reread and walk down memory lane for me. Published in 1992, when I was a young, determined, passionate wilderness/forest/river activist. I know a few of the people and places discussed in these essays. Makes me want to put her newest book Erosion on my August TBR. Want to see how she is weathering all the disturbing environmental news and the Trump Administration. I hope better than I am.

Scochrane26 I know—I get so upset over all the environmental rollbacks. Then, I think about all the great writers I‘ve read who have been speaking out for decades. I haven‘t read anything by this author, I will look out for her new book. 4y

SamAnne @ReadingEnvy @Scochrane26 yes, I still work in conservation, working to restore rivers and salmon. TTW is a passionate activist. Many of the women in her Mormon family have died of cancer, likely associated from the Nevada nuclear test site. Her book Refuge focuses on this story and is a power ful read. And yes, need to read Erosion. (edited) 4y
