Dreams | C G Jung
3 posts | 2 read | 5 to read
Dream analysis is a distinctive and foundational part of analytical psychology, the school of psychology founded by C. G. Jung and his successors. This volume collects Jung's most insightful contributions to the study of dreams and their meaning. The essays in this volume, written by Jung between 1909 and 1945, reveal Jung's most essential views about dreaming--especially regarding the relationship between language and dream. Through these studies, Jung grew to understand that dreams are themselves a language, a language through which the soul communicates with the body. The essays included are "The Analysis of Dreams," "On the Significance of Number Dreams," "General Aspects of Dream Psychology," "On the Nature of Dreams," "The Practical Use of Dream Analysis," and "Individual Dream Symbolism in Relation to Alchemy" (complete with illustrations). New to this edition is a foreword by Sonu Shamdasani, Philemon Professor of Jung History at University College London.

A little late, but these are some of the books I received this holiday. What were your bookish gifts? Have you read any of these yet?

Pickpick

Reading Jung can be dream-like in itself, I‘ve found. Rich, multi-layered and at times impossible to fathom. Still, there‘s never been a better time to dive in. He‘s never less than thought-provoking and I love the constant reminder that, at the end of the day - no pun intended - only the dreamer really knows what his/her actual dream means. Some of my dreams have been so vivid and strange since the Covid-19 lockdown began. Anyone else found that?

💫Back In The day Robert De Niro was life changing in the The Deer Hunter. We learned so much from this movie. Very shocking at the time & still ! Life lessons
💫No need - usually
💫A light dinner & a glass of red & a book ( obviously)
💫Yes phobias .. little creatures , can‘t even say or write their names ( it‘s that bad 😱
💫I almost always dream & remember. & yes recurring dreams too ( a message from the deep ... 👇🏻

Cathythoughts 👇🏻the actor question is way too hard ... Also Kenneth Branagh ...& & & 6y
Billypar The Deer Hunter is the film that reminds me most of reading a novel- I think because the characters are so uncannily similar to real people in a way you don't see in very many films. There some true classics featuring DeNiro in the 1970s and 80s- even if plenty of good films still get made, none will be good in quite the same way as those were. 6y
Cathythoughts @Billypar yes I only saw it once ... 40 years ago , certain scenes are unforgettable. I don‘t think I could watch it now. I think I would find it too upsetting now ... I think anyway 6y
