Outdoor reading with patio lights & beer. This stout tasted eerily similar to the Tiger Malt I drank the other day. It was possibly the sweetest beer I‘ve ever had, which made it decidedly not to my tastes, and at 10.5% it was considerably stronger than most of what I drink. Not a win, alas.
Reread‘s still good, but I MIGHT pause soon to read something shorter. We shall see how I feel after the extremely strong beer wears off.
pickWent swimming with my son and his friend. After an hour I was done and they wanted to stay. So I downloaded this book and read it over the next 3 hours while they had fun. It was entertaining and I really enjoyed that little slice of free time to just read in peace!
pickThis 1990 Booker winner was told through two time periods with the help of some poetry, fairy tales, and letters. A romance with a bit of a mystery and some academic competition. I loved the ending! 4.5 🌟
so-soOverall, I enjoyed this. There was one description of a woman near the beginning that I didn't like. I felt it was completely unnecessary. It also had a mystery surrounding smuggling that I wasn't a huge fan of. I was lost in some places. However, I should be clear that mystery, in general, isn't something I gravitate to. It definitely has angst, and an HEA. No cliffhanger and it is the 1st of a series. I won't be reading any of the others.
